Cheers,

I have only ever used Garmin. The only thing I do not like with the 660 is you cannot lock it to the mount, therefore you need to take it with you whenever you leave the bike out of sight.

A friend has TomTom which he swears by,BUT if he misses a waypoint due to road closures or similar, it will keep trying to send him back to that point, even if he has made the next one.

One has to learn how to use all features! You can skip waypoints like a breeze - and you can do route planing just like Garmin!

I do not know the prices in the UK, but in terms of prices, I will always choose the TomTom Rider 2013 (v5) - ie. just because of the price difference. Garmin costs approx. twice as much as TomTom. Secondly, I think that TomTom has a much better user interface (GUI) and its ability to recalculate routes are unsurpassed. Winding roads is also something that TomTom Rider just doing better than Garmin.

A few years ago, the Garmin *was* a better product. However, TomTom has learned from their mistakes and today's edition is very durable. The lifetime of the maps,  user share, maps changes/updates locally, IQ routes and much more.

Price and quality often go together - this does not apply to Garmin vs. TomTom Rider!

Just my 2 cents

Just a quick brush-up on this topic...

I have 2 x Schuberth C3 Pro helmets with SRC (firmware v4.20) and often touring with my friend with his C3/SRC with firmware v3.00
My helmet is linked with GPS - my phone is linked to GPS and talking (routed) to helmet that way. My co-driver is linked on channel B - my friend on channel A. Even my RDS/Radio is active....

Now...it's working.. but periodic the headset link from TomTom Rider 2013 (v5) is falling out... "no speaker" icon is displayed on the TomTom. If that happens I need to "reset factory settings" on my TomTom since TomTom has a really BUG of handling their bluetooth connections. It's a pain in the a..... when you're on touring! You loose PI's, routes etc. Anyway...it's periodic for time being, and I have wrote info to TomTom and Schuberth support. No response for time being.....but it will come!

Sound quality is really good....3 x intercom on the same time... fantastic...  radio, gps and mobile.... really good!

More to come....

Plenty of life left in them yet.

Sure! They will stay on the bike until I return from Italy in late may... then I really need to powder-coat my wheels (black) and mount shiny new PR4's.... Great sponsor deal I have there!

I ran with various Bluetooth Intercom for many years. Have tried Midland, SENA, Cardo Scala, Interphone and have just purchased two new helmets (Schuberth C3 Pro) with their SRC system (produced by Cardo).

I have the most experience with Cardo Scala, since this system was originally supplied with the TomTom Rider GPS.

Later I switched to Interphone and was very happy - especially the quality and durability. Far better than Cardo Scala who drowned in the rain. As for Midland and SENA is the sound quality just is not good enough.

Price and quality are linked - and this is evident in relation to the Schuberth SRC Intercom. It is expensive. But it's good - great quality and adapted to the helmet. Easy to operate. Both in terms of coupling to GPS, phone, radio/RDS, iPod/MP3 or Intercom. It works!

SRC can talk to Cardo (the new Cardo versions) - and in terms of coupling to other SRC systems, then it goes like a breeze. You can also quick-connect to other SRC systems you meet spontaneously.

My experience - based on all the different Bluetooth Intercom systems I have owned and tested - Schuberth SRC is best.

The reason I chose Bluetooth Intercom systems is that I do not want any cord attached. It should be wireless because of comfort.

The biggest challenge - in general - for all Intercom systems is that they have not yet found a common standard so everyone can talk to everyone. Next, manufacturers should solve the challenge in relation to several devices that can talk. And I mean that it is not enough with 2, 3, 4 or 6 units coupling link where you depends on a chain of devices. About my wishes actually becomes "real" -  only time will tell.
