Hi all,
I've just put a deposit down on a 60reg, 3k mile GTR at George Whites in Swindon so my first thought when getting home was to get registered and make my introductions.
I've been looking through the forum over the past few weeks whilst deciding what bike to change my CBF1000GT for. After much deliberation it was between the FJR, R1200RT and the GTR and hey presto GTR wins.
I ride all year round as a commuter so clock up 11-12K per year and whilst the CBF was good a 'wobble' on the front at 40mph which after Honda investigated said was all within specification made me vote with my feet and change my bike.
So, I'll let you all know how the first ride goes when I pick up the bike a week Saturday.
Cheers all.
Hi-ya Mattye. Welcome to the forum lots of help and assistance if needed on here, one thing for sure you will not be dissapointed with your choice they are a cracking bit of kit. After the cbf you will find the GTR to be a real bike, take your time to get used to it and I am sure you will learn to love it. My last but one bike was a cbf and it was the worst bike that I have ever owned, :o" Honda build quality bah humbug". Enjoy the bike and the site cheers Geoff ;D ;D ;D
Mattye
I can only aggree with 100's comments about finding the GTR a real bike after the CBF. I made the same move but in my case I had done 28k miles in 2 and a half years on my CBF1000 and it never missed a beat in any respect.
Enjoy your new beastie!

Werrr Heyy .... well done Mattye on choosing the right bike ! As you have already realised by reading through the Forum we are a friendly lot so look forward to hearing your news thoughts and updates about the Gtr ... only a few more sleeps till you pick the bike up ;D
Mattye, welcome to the forum. Its suprising just how many seem to have short list of bikes that is identical to yours and then plum for the GTR. Always a wise choice. ;D
Welcome Mattye, same as you (and patrick) another X-CBF owner who voted with my feet (albeit via a Triumph Tiger), and then to the GTR...great choice, great bike ;D
Hi Mattye
I too am an ex CBF rider who was converted to GTRdom via a Ninja and Pan Euro.
The bike is an all round peach; you will love it. It knocks the spots off a CBF.. different level all together.
ENJOY
Hi all and thanks for all the comments. They seem to re-inforce my decision to ditch the CBF and go to the GTR.
I've read lots of posts regarding servicing and covering 11-12k per year servicing is a big chunk of the running costs. I would rather have the bike serviced by an independant small garage as I feel I have always had a more 'personnal' service and used to use a guy in Great Shefford (Andy Baxter) but he has gone bust.
Can anyone recommend a small garage. I'm based in Wantage (10 miles below Oxford) but happy to travel a bit.
Cheers
