Title: Quick rivets
Post by: simbad on October 23, 2011, 05:03:30 PM
Anyone had trouble releasing the quick rivets on the fairing located under the seat fairing panels? These are not the pop in and lift out type but unscrew the middle pin and then remove. Mine don't want to unscrew and so it's difficult to remove the rivet.

So far I haven't had cause to remove these. What is it you are trying to do?

Dropped a bolt down there and this seemed the easiest way to get it out.  :-\

Use a really small precision screwdriver to lift the screw head as you turn it . this will start it off and then remove as usual.

Ah, ha. Now I understand. Is it not something you can retrieve with a magnetised bar. Maplins do these, http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?criteria=Magnetic+Pick-Up (http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?criteria=Magnetic+Pick-Up)
A lot less hassle than dismantling the bodywork.
