Hi chaps
been a forum member for a while gleening info and ideas and today have become the new owner of a blue GTR on a 09 plate with 5700 miles in perfect condition after a long demo ride. Chopped in my MT-01 against it and got a Remus Hexcone can thrown in ( titanium with carbon fibre end ) to seal the deal as the only thing i didn't like was the standard exhaust.
what a machine! its like a rocket once you get to 7000 rpm and is fun in the twisties. Never thought i could replace my MT-01 but i have found a bike that delivers in every area.
Picking it up on Thursday next week and will have too walk around with that silly smug grin on my face till then, can't wait! ;D
Howdy, nice to see another GTR owner joining the ranks. Hopefully the weather will stay reasonable for you so at least you can enjoy the bike when you collect it. ;D
Hello GJ and welcome .... if you have been on the Forum for a while then you probably know most of us already ! As Mr Wolf says it's nice to see yet another Gtr owner getting on the roads and showing everyone how good these bikes are ;D
Thursday next week won't come soon enough .... the blue is lovely .. it's what I would have gone for if I had bought one earlier than I did.
Enjoy the Norfolk roads.
Hi GJ
I have just got a blue GTR and am chuffed to bits with it. You have made a choice I'm sure you wont regret.
Having bought a new one after part ex'ing my 2 bikes, I have also tricked it up a bit with a carbon silencer, hugger, fender extender, taller screen and (on the advice of other forum members) a radiator guard from Boewolf which I put on today.
Should be posting some pics soon.
Hope you enjoy your new bike in some good weather.
How did you manage to get a blue 2011 model?
I thought at least in the UK they only sold them in black and green.
Hi Mecki
Must be an older model that has now been blessed with a 61 plate.
The V5 quotes the type as ZGT40C, variant C, version 1B.
You probably know what was available when better than I do. Love it anyway ;D
If the only difference is the colour, does it matter?
There have been a few dealers recently selling unregistered 2010 bikes as 2011 models, even in some cases pre 2010 models which are being registered as 61 plate bikes. The benefit as I see it is that you get an opportunity to have a wider colour choice and potentially purchase a GTR at a slightly reduced price.
Hi LW
You are right about the deals. Wont quote numbers, but they offered me the bike at very close to cost. It was a great deal on a bike i hadn't even thought of buying.
I am so glad this opportunity came up as i have have ended up with a great bike, I didnt know i wanted ;D
thanks for the welcome to gtr ownership and i'm already drawing up a list of things to do to improve my new ride. Heated grips are the first on the list, sat nav and screen next so i look forward to trawling through the posts seeing what others have done.
i agree coastrider, the blue is a lovely colour, looks black until you get it under lights or in the sun then it literally sparkles. What carbon can did you put on? I went for the Remus in the end although i looked at the Vance & Hines and the Two Brothers.
Also love to see pics of the Boewolf rad guard sometimes

Hi GJ
I went for an Extreme Stainless silencer. It looks good and make a lovely deep sound but I have had a couple of problems getting it sorted. It transpired that they had fitted the system to an older model and when I tried to use it on my new one the bolt hole on the hanger bracket was too small, the centre stand stop bracket was at the wrong angle and it had no rubber stopper as they thought it was on the stand and not on the exhaust. I sent them some pictures and spoke to them, resulting in a revised link pipe and bracket on my door in 2 days. They are keen to get things right for their customers. I had a Remus can on a VFR800; it was a good piece of kit and well made.
The Beowulf rad cover only too 20 minutes to fit and I feel happier seeing the radiator protected.
Only thing I am still waiting for is my Calsci screen (and my legs to grow a bit ::))
I am going to try and upload some pictures of the bike later today now the exhaust is on and will try to show the radiator guard aswell, although being black it may not show very well.
Gentleman Jim, the radiator guard comes in silver and black, however trust me when I say that the anodised black one is better cosmetically.
Hi LW
When I ordered my rad guard from Beowulf, they told me I could have a black one or a black one.
Glad you think this one works the best visually anyway. Just posted some pics.
Hi GJ welcome i.am also in Norfolk, had my GTR from new 08 reg and its a g8 bike where in Norolk r u ?
Hello and welcome to the forum.
I must sort out the funds for a rad guard! Will need to get my refund from Heroblobs first for the Calsci screen I didn't get on with.
