Bloody hell, it's been cold today! I couldn't have put any more layers of clothing on if I'd tried but I went for a wee jaunt today out to Hawes in North Yorkshire. One of my regular excursions to the Wensleydale Cheese factory in Hawes to stock up on supplies.
If I'm honest I'm getting a bit fed up with using the same routes out to The Lakes and that general area so I detoured into a wee village today, Draughton, just outside Skipton in North Yorks. Nice enough village.....minding my own business trundling through and then I saw, WTF :o is she doing??
Turned the bike around and caught back up with this elderly lady driving her husband's Mercedes at about 2mph through the village and looking rather distressed. Transpired this woman was from Ilkley area and had about 20-25 miles to go and had intended to drive home with her car in it's current state, God knows how long that would have taken.
She says to me, "I think there's something wrong with one of my tyres the cars not handling too well". No shit Sherlock, (although I didn't say that as she wouldn't have been impressed).
Rather than try to describe her tyre, I'll show you.

Twenty plus miles she was planning on driving that home. Anyway, couldn't leave her there could I? Lets change your wheel, Oops, no spare and no locking wheel nut tool. She says she was in the AA & so am I so I called them, transpired she was close, she was with the RAC ;D
Eventually she got sorted but I hadn't planned on a lengthy delay such as this caused. I couldn't just leave her could I? :-\
Did I mention how cold it was? Bloody hell it was cold.
Still on route to Hawes and I come across some serious flooding on the road. Carefully picked my way through it hoping I wasn't going to drop into a crater. No dramas, straight through, nice and steady and finally got my cheese supply.

Still thawing out as I read this....now I right fancy a cheese toastie ;D
Ah now that's what I call a flat!!!!!!!!!! Shame then that people like this driver are just the kind of people who would knock you into the middle of next week and not even know that they had done it. Tales like this scare the poo out of me, and there are plenty more complete plantpots like her round every corner. On a lighter note the picture of the standing water, that is only a flood down sarf, up norf it's a puddle. Moving on to the cold snap I had ICE on the car window when I came out to it this morning :o Blimey winter must be on it's way then :( Anyway hope you enjoyed your day. ps Was the picture of the PUDDLE on the road between Cray and West Burton. ? ;D
Sunny and mild with dry CONGESTED ROADS down south.
What great roads you have on your doorstep, wrap up warm and enjoy them
Coman
I'm not sure where Cray & West Burton are and cant even find them on Google Maps?

MMM did you come through Kettlewell, and Buckden and eventually join the A684 at Aysgarth.? ???
I never TYRE of hearing of peoples breakdown stories. I bet she felt a bit FLAT once she knew how much the wheel and new bit of rubber was going to cost.

I take it you like Abbot's Gold then ? ;D
Good for you in helping out the old girl ... once again nice scenic photos, even of flooded roads ! Cold down here too, even Londre was chilly on the bike last night.. heated grips on and long sleeved tops have now been dug out from the bottom of my locker !!! ;D
She's lucky I wasn't working...would have been a different outcome then!
You have a steady little number going there Rusty with that job of yours, wish I got paid to ride bikes all shift. I can imagine though as the temperatures dropped in the wee small hours as they tend to do, you might be tempted to come back in and play cards for a few hours.
How could you suggest such antics ?? You disappoint me Mr Wolf ;D

depends how long you want to be out for! we normally stop off at the ponderosa cafe on the horse shoe pass llangollen for some breakfast and talk some bollocks with other like minded bikers. then make our way to bala lake, then on to various other places heading towards betws-y-coed, there is loads of different routes to take from the ponderosa, all the roads are excellent. another favorit route from the ponderosa is through the denbigh moors, betws-y-coed stop for a brew and some more bollock talk ;) then through dolgellau, and then through bala. but for a quick enjoyable ride when you dont have all day. get your self up to the ponderosa cafe nice roads, nice scenery and loads of bikers to talk bollocks with ;)
Some of us are working all weekend and have in fact just got home. (03:14hrs) :(
Just got home too ... 0830 ... just waiting for some water, hot shower, coffee and bed ............................ Z
What a great day.
fomr home over top llangollen, horsehoepass... couldnt see the cafe for cloud! donw nanty garth to Ruthin for a cuppa and then on through Denbigh to Rhly and along the coast.. not on the A55 to Rhos on sea for butties.
Then along to llandudno and back down the A5, a stop at Rhugg Farm and home.
