Quick question for all the experts out there.
Service, (self service) time again very shortly and I could do with a quick spot of advice. I use the Motul oil and notice that it comes in 5100 & 5000 grades as well as others. Last time I used 5100, is this the right one to use? Does anyone use a lower/higher grade?
Many thanks..

motul 5100 10/w/40 is a semi oil which is what is recommended for your bike! the 5000 10/w/40 is motul entry level semi and motul 7100 is a fully synthetic oil. I do not use fully synthetic oil becuase I change my oil at 3,000 miles so using the fully 7100 is a waste of money, the motul 5100 10/w/40 semi is the correct oil and meets all of kawasaki requirements!
Many thanks for that, I wasn't sure anyone was ever going to answer! Every 3000 miles then, is that just personal choice?
I replace mine with Halfords 10W40 semi-synth every 8,000 miles.
I did the same on my GTR1000 every 5,000 miles.
Perhaps that contributed to my destroyed clutch but I doubt it.
Oil is oil, so long as it has the right specs and approvals.
I've never seen the point of wasting money and oil in more frequent oil changes.
Manufacturers recommendations are fine by me.

well I change my oil every 3,000 miles or every 12 months which ever comes first. but I do have the gtr1400 and the zzr1400 and use them both about the same. but yes it is a personal choice! rather change it 3,000 miles because I do use the bikes for short journeys and over the colder weather so the oil dose get some condensation that in effect waters your oil down, also your bikes oil as a tough job. it needs to lubricate your clutch, gears, engine and also acts as a coolant, so for the cost of 5 ltrs of oil and a filter I prefer to change my oil at 3,000 miles or 12 months! then I know all the internals have the best possible protection all year round. I dont like using fully synthetic oil in my bikes for 2 reasons, "with me changing every 3,000 miles it would be a waste of money, also have heard a few horror stories about the clutch starting to slip when fully synthetic as been used, so decided not to take the chance and use what kawasaki recommend which is semi synthetic viscosity 10/w/40 type API SE, SF OR SG API SH, SJ OR SL WITH JASO MA.
