I know that this may be a slightly biased view ( ;D ) but it always amazes me when people try to get out of paying a bog standard £60/3 point fixed penalty for speeding. I know there are many different circumstances and many people here may already be starting to get hot under the collar as speeding enforcement is one of those subjects that creates an awful lot of wind but when you read stories like this in todays Telegraph I just wonder why he didn't take the ticket and be done with it .... he now has to pay over £3000 in costs !!!!! Many people have tried to beat the system, if you are really lucky and convincing and the Officer is a total bafoon you might just sway the Magistrates, but as a general rule of thumb if some kind, considerate, well meaning traffic officer offers you a £60er thank them, apologise profusely and snatch it out of their grubby devilish claws. :)
A couple of mph slower and he probably would have been offered a speed awareness course...
