The weather was not good on sunday so i was at a loose end the fund manager had gone shopping, so i found myself in my man shed glaring at the bike, i began looking at the various bolts arround the bike and seeing the various stages of degredation they were in, so i had a small wire buffing wheel that i attached to the drill, placed the drill in the workmate and began undoing the bolts one at a time buffing them to their original lustre, i did the easy get to ones didnt fancy tackling the major ones, i also did the brake line ends ( while in situ with a dremmel ) and the rear spindle mushroom end they came up better than new took a couple of hours but well worth it.
Once you start this polishing lark it can become highly infectious, where do you stop? ;D
hi on sunday i had the same brainwave,i removed both of the footpeg brackets, covered them in paint stripper, then polished them up.they were scuffed before but now look like new.i have done this to my last 5 zzr's,everyone seems to comment on them when they are done, they do not fade, just give them a going over with autosol when you clean your bike, they only get brighter, trying to load up some pic's but at present they are coming out too big to load up.
If pictures are too large - try downloading and using this simple way to resize them:

hi thanks for the link to resize my photo's unfortunatley it's way above my head how to do it cheers keith
hi i have managed to size the photo's ,here is my right handside foot peg bracket after i stripped off the paint and polished it,these dont fade ,eveytime you polish them they get better, much better than looking at scuffed paintwork.
Have you considered having them chromed?
hi lonewolf, chroming would be nice, maybe expensive though, when you get yours done post me a pic,i am quite happy with the polished alloy,as i say it only gets better each time you clean them, they look better on the bike than they do in the picture.cheers keith
I had some bits chromed on a naked sports bike I used to own and the cost was reasonable and it saved a lot of upkeep through further polishing. I'll dig out some pics.
more pic's of me footpegs
I cant find the actual pictures I was looking for but this shows the chrome off reasonably well. I had the rear foot pegs done and the hangers.

The heel plates look good i will have to have a play now, may even do the rear hangers too.
Keith did you take the hangers off or left in -situ ?????
just a word of caution in buffing up bolts , i did this on my zzr1200 and several of them went rusty very soon after, it turns out that they were zinc plated steel and id taken off the protective zinc plate, not sure if this would happen to the gtr or not. near me i have an old fashoined nut and bolt iron monger so I take in any offending bolts and he supplies me the stainless steel equivelant, sometimes they are are nicer dome cap or a hex socket ect

Steve is that a truck load of your CUSTOMERS in the background? :whistling:
Regrettably not, if I got that many in a day I'd want a big, big bonus. :ninja:
Most, if not all ,bolts on your bike will be zinc plated, and if you 'buff' them up they will eventually rust, home zinc plating kits are available
The pro bolt option is not one that I like, but it does appeal to some
