Twice in two days I have seen emergency vehicles having to take avoiding action because car A sees/hears the flashing lights and sirens etc and attempts to get out of the way to let him pass but car B completely oblivious to what's happening around him overtakes car A - makes you wonder how we survive on our bikes.
It does reinforce my veiw that people pull out on us not because bikes are not visible enough its simply that a lot of road users never look further than whats directly in front of them and sometimes not even that. Thought that before THEY removed the off switch for the headlight and nothing since has changed my mind.
Fred, what you have described is common and you just learn to expect that to happen. It's water off a ducks back.

I thought the Government were going to have a public awareness campaign on Blue Light Awareness - I think its needed.
Nice bit of video there Andy ... the sort of thing that is shown to new drivers but it's the ones who have been around a while that we need to sit down with and show them videos like that.
From a personal point of view I was and still am very careful when coming up behind learner drivers as I find the presence of a job bike or car tends to spook them so I give plenty of extra distance and usually if not on a specific route I will just turn off so as not to cause them further anxiety .... every little helps and Ithink it sets a good example of understanding from a Police point of view.
