hi lord rusty pleased you like the exhaust,as i said i am pleased with it,i found the person at the exhaust manufactuer to be very helpful, these are made to order so i believe, you cant complain about the time from ordering to delivery, this cost me £180 + £10 dedlivery.a very good weight saving and seem to be of very good quality.i always thought i would never change mine from standard, but it is isn't rocket scienced to change it  back you still have the original spud launcher.ps this ios a poor video took on my garahe sounds and looks better in the flesh,go on spoil yourself!!!!

Got the same can as you Keith, but I had to make the extension myself to the can bracket to get it to not touch the panniers, did yours come with something or did you make it too?

Another thing have you left the baffles in or not? Don't seem to make slot of difference if you ask me.

hi carvern, the pipe came with the stainless steel bracket,to drop the can slightly,i asked the question before i ordered it,found it better to put the bracket behind the frame bracket now it looks better, never tried the baflles out sounds right the way it is,i do get a bit of a sputter on the overrun though,

Thanks Keith, will contact extreme stainless to get extension to can bracket. Get the same on the overun myself, not a problem I dont feel though.

Hi folks.
I know this one has lapsed a while, but I was looking at a Boewolf oval carbon can for the GTR I am just about to get. Has anybody fitted a Boewolf? This Extreme silencer sounds rather tasty: wondered how they compare.

A friend of mine has a set of Beowolf for his TDR ( he's not right in the head )... I think it's a Yamaha thing ... anyway, he is VERY pleased with his outfit and it sounds very nice too !

Thanks for that.
I have heard good things about Boewolf and that their cans are road legal with the baffles in (although I am checking this and asked if they are stamped. Not sure which way to go now, but I am not leaving the spud gun on my bike.

hi coastrider, after looking at the boewolf and the extreme cans,i think the only difference was the price,if you are looking to improve the looks of your bike and the exhaust note (which sounds great ). i have put my original exhaust back on to-day just till i take my bike back to  the dealer while he sorts out the oil which i have dripping onto my back wheel.i think it is coming from the seal inside my final drive,it took my 15 mins to take off the extreme set up and fit back the original spud launcher, when my bike is sorted it will be getting changed straight back,

forgot to mention the extreme road cans are all stamped with the bs mark.

Hi Keith
Must admit to be veering towards the extreme option. I like the twin tail pipes.
I was asking about the road legal issue because I have an Akrapovic on my 600Ninja that I'm trading in (which I ran with the baffle out...sounds brilliant) and got stopped for a routine bike check!! They asked about the C mark as proof of its road legality.
I need the bike to sound like a proper Kwak

As an update. I contacted Extreme Stainless yesterday via their 'contact us' email address and got a prompt reply from Andy Smith (company MD)  In answer to my questions he confirmed;
1.  The BS mark is stamped on the rivet band as proof of being road legal.
2. The mounting bracket had been modified from the earliest examples to clear the panniers.
3. The link pipes and stainless silencers carry a lifetime warrant, but the carbon version has a 24month warranty.
4. The units are made to order with about a 5 day lead time.
5. No remapping etc is necessary. (They have sold 12 units for the GTR without problems - 10 carbon & 2 Stainless)

I found the feedback from this company excellent and honest, so I feel there will be another order heading their way in the form of a carbon oval silencer with a single tail pipe.

hi coastrider,i had the same helpful experience with them,i have the carbon exhaust but i do like the all stainless, without being totally biased about the exhaust debate,i can put my hand on heart and tell you that i put my stock pipe back on as i thought i had a leak on my shaft drive?? and was taking back the bike under warranty (think now it might just have needed the bolt nipping up now so i will have to wait till i get another ride out) when riding with the stock pipe it felt like a totally different bike,it just didn't feel like the bike i loved.cant wait to put back on my carbon exhaust, you will notice a big difference, enjoy ..    cheers   keith

forgot to mention! I did buy a beowulf exhaust new from the depot in halifax. after fitting it, I was getting alot of "poping and farting" on over run. had this before on my zrx1200 but did not mind that everytime I shut off it it was "poping and farting" it bollocks off. the zrx1200 is abit of a hooligan bike so suppose it suited the bike. however the gtr1400 is more of a gentlemens bike so removed and re-fitted the standard exhaust. but it must be said, beowulf where excellent as have found many times before, have bought many exhausts from them over the years and they have all been spot on. I did of course, make sure it was air tight. infact the link pipe connection was as tight as a ducks arse! but could not stop the poping and farting. I spoke to beowulf over this, they said they have not tested the exhaust on the 2010 model but agreed it should not pop on over run. they also said they would try to obtain the 2010 model bike and try the exhaust on that bike and see what can be done to rectify the problem. they offerd me a full refund and even sent there own courier to collect the exhaust the next day. as any one eles had this problem with the "poping and farting" on over run, I did ask advice from 3 different dealers if this could do any damaged. one dealer said no, but would advise getting the bike set up for the exhaust which I was not prepaired to do! the other 2 dealers said it could course damage if run like that over a long period time! but all 3 advised getting the bike set up for that exhaust. I don't want to put any one off having a beowulf exhaust, have had 5 different beowulf exhausts over the years for various bikes and they have allways been spot on! they look and sound great, also a fair price and are a huge saving on weight compaired with the standard exhaust. but just thought I would mention this and see if any one eles had this problem or was mine just a one off.

I know it's everyone to their own and all that BUT you lot keep banging on about these end cans being lots better looking !!!!!!!  than the originals  sorry I just cant see it  :o. I think most of um look bloody awfull, could someone not make one that fitted to the bike with a proper bracket and not one of those crappy strap things, and what's the big deal with wanting to make more noise?!!!I would have thought it a better idea to make less noise not more. Anyway if any of you who hate the original so much would like to sell your 010/11 model spud launcher/ bazookas or whatever you call them i'll buy them off you. I really like the design of the one Kawasaki decided to fit, they seem to match my pink armbands really well ::). do have a lovely evening :) ;)

I can only speak for myself! but I happen to think the standard exhaust looks fine, sounds fine. I also agree the gtr1400 is not suppose to sound like a boys racer! however" I decided to try the after market can for one reason only. I can't see the point in using the panniers when you have nothink in them, and surely you must agree the standard exhaust looks out of place when the panniers are removed. of course this is personal choice, and thats what makes us all different ;)

i bought my bike with the std pipe  loose and a blue flame twin outlet stainless steel finish end can plus about a foot of pipe fitted to the bike.
the twin outlets are removable both have circlips (which are badly designed because at full compression they still wont come out very easily - even after filing them down to get more compression they still are awkward) and i just wondered what was the reason.
the lower "outlet" is blanked off but can be removed and the top outlet has a short length of tubing that can also be removed.
when removed the bike sounds a lot beefier but splutters and sometimes on shut off it doesnt return to idle as quickly as it should.
i know from my experience with designing and making 2 stroke exhaust pipes that a pipe can totally change the fuelling requirements but i bet the previous owner simply fitted this and did nowt to the fuelling.
on my zx6r on fitting a full akra i had to go up 2 sizes main jets and fit washers under the needles and then it worked nice.

on my gtr i get poor mpgs and wondered if the blue flame pipe might be partly to blame. i havent heard the bike with the std can on and i know there is one way to find out what it sounds and goes like but i just wondered if anyone can give any advice on whats best re the two outlets ie leave them in or both out or one out etc
