Left home early on BH Monday. Went west through Llangollen, Bala, Barmouth, Harlech, then west to Pwllheli, north to Carnarfon and then through Betwys Garmon, Beddgelert, Capel-Curig and back down the A5 and home.
It stayed dry (mostly) and other than a bit of BH traffic we had a fab day out.

Patrick, you were obviously fortunate with the weather unlike us. What we wouldn't have given for clear skies and views like those.
It was a "do we..don't we" day. All set to go at 8 when the rain came on, so we hung on for half an hour, but once we set off there was a bit of drizzle in the 1st 20 miles but then was dry, but overcast all day.
P
Perhaps we should have had you with us over the weekend as a lucky omen ;D
I wanted to come up to Swallow Falls but had arranged to do a ride without my 1400cc.
Well, I went to the Lake District via Hartside on Monday (Fish n' Chips in Windermere) and even though it drizzled a couple of times I stayed dry without having to put my rain gear on. Had to turn the heated grips on, though. 8)

You would still have been welcome. ;D
too many hills in wales for pedal power. bike ride was in a country park next to an airport.. very flat!
Patrick,
Intrigued by the lamp? by your top box. Can I ask, what bit of kit is it. Looks quite interesting and useful.
Rippers
Patrick,
I think I have sussed it. Is it kit for N.E.G?
In a past life I had dealings with them. Great bunch of lads.

Well sussed, it s a telescopic pole mount ( that started life as an extendable mop hanle!) for a strobe beacon, and the bike also has strobes fitted under the mirrors and adjacent to the back light.
Just ended my 1st season with NEG and am thoroguhly enjoying it.
P
Patrick,
Good for you. I have loads of time for the volunteers on N.E.G.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is it good for?
I think he means good that I vounteer with the NEG.
QuoteI think he means good that I vounteer with the NEG.
No, that strange thing at the back of your bike!
What is it good for?
I can understand that you may be allowed to temporarily mount a flashing light on the back of a bike if it is officially used in a cycling event but that it would be illegal to have one mounted permanently even if you volunteer for the NEG.
the light is not permanantly fixed, the pole / bayonet fitting is on the bike on the picture.
There is no problem in the light begin on the bike at any time (other than being quick relase it wold get nicked). It is the use of flashing amber lights that is governed by the C&U regs.
At work I have 25 LGV's with beacons and strobes fitted but they are only used when appropriate. Whats the difference?

Oh - does that mean that everybody can put beacons and strobes on their bike as long as they don't turn them on?
Or does that only apply to people who have a job that allows them to use them "at work"?
In general any vehilce fitted with amber flashing lights can only use them in situations where the law allows.
For example In have a mag-mount beacon for my company car that I use in some circumstances at work. In normal driving, as part of my work, the light may be on the car but not switched on.
Its the circumstances of use of amber lights that are governed by legislation. Some other colours can only be fitted to certain vehilce types.
Do a google search on the topic.
I was just wondering because rippers stated it may be useful, and I still can't really see what it would be useful for unless you do something like the NEG.
Rippers........ "what did you mean??"

Patrick....I think the current legislation states that you can have a cruise missile fitted to a 1400 GTR but the warhead cant be armed, I'll wait for mecki to clarify the situation though!! ;D
I thought you were the law. :o

I suppose that even without the warhead it would still clear a lane on the M25 to simplify filtering!

You'd probably need a strobe/flashing orange light though fitted to the bike to get peoples attention......oh hang on a second you already have one fitted. ;D
And going over the debris will probably shred your tyres too. ;D ;D ;D

Ah yes, but at this point I'd switch on the front strobes....... but which of the 20 flash patterns to use.... decisions decisions???
You are all BONKERS !!! ;D ;D
LR just because you have all the flashing toys on your work machine doesn't mean everyone elses desire to have the same makes them BONKERS ;D
I agree with LR.
Why would anyone in his right mind want to have "flashing toys" on a bike? ::)
Here we go again! ::)
all because i posted a nice photo from Snowdonia!!
The power of photography!
probably good that today at Stage 3 of the ToB not only did my cam-corder act up, but my bike mounted cam stopped recording before the race passed by, so no further images to post today!
Can you try and get some footage of all the variations of your orange strobe lights?
Mr Wolf ... don't encourage them for Gods' sake !!! ;D ;D
