Title: Replacing the front left indicator
Post by: Kwikasfuki on August 21, 2011, 04:19:08 PM
First indicator I've had go for a long, long time. Can be a bit fiddly to replace so hopefully the following will help. Indicator is orange and cost £1.50 from dealer.

All work is done under the front cone.

Two bolts and a pin lock need to be removed. The top two are shown below. Use a 4mm hex to remove the bolts. The pin locks are removed by pressing the pin in, which then releases.

Here's the pin lock removed (note, this one is broken as I've had it in and out a zillion times)

Also, using the 4mm hex, remove the two fairing bolts on the side.

This gives access to the housing. You will have to gently pull the fairing back to access.

Looking from the cone to the back of the bike, its a clockwise twist to release.

Not shown, but one removed, the notches on the bulb housing are of a different size, so it only fits on one way. Make a note.

Apologies for the angle of the text - the view is correct though

Not rocket science, but hopefully will help

Hello Norman

It is very fine pictures and a good description.

But why do you not just pull of top-side cover? It's actually pretty easy and you avoid twisting
around with it all and perhaps avoid destroying anything?

By the way... you can replace those pinlock's by würth's.. they are much cheaper and can be purchased in all sizes.

Don't think you can get to it from the top side cover? I'll take a look again, but there didn't seem to be any access

ie. *remove* top/sidecover... then you'll have plenty of room/access to those suckers.....

nope, you can`t access via top. I had a good look today. If by sidecover you mean the fairing' its the same amount of hassle

:)  Well... it might be the "fairing" I mean (dont know the right work in your lingo) - but anyway - it's only a snap 5 min. job!! And while you're in there.. check the waterlevel as well    :P

Gotcha. I see where you mean. So this involves removal of the top storage box, two fairing panels inc disconnecting from the lower fairings. Thats a whole load of bolts. I prefer the pin lock and two bolts method. Unless you mean some other method?

I am useless at anything technical. So for me into a nearby dealer or friendly motocycle dealer, and even if it costs me £15 (Maybe I am optimistic here) job done.
