last weekend the gear change reading was over the place, i took it out today, prior to starting it was reading 12.6v then raised ti 14.3v then while riding went back to 12.6v, then up & down, the the reading was up & down like a YOYO, the battery was replaced with the OEM one about 2 years ago, could it be the battery causing this, may need a trip to the dealers to run it through a diognostic check.
Check the battery connections are tight.
The switch
needs replacing or cleaning. I had the same problem and a new switch cured it.

they were tight, i cleaned a few earthing points on the leads as well as the battery terminals, gonna take it out for a run.
well. i done boxhill & newlands corner today, from chichester 110 mile's in all, when i started the bike up the voltage on the display was 12.6v the when out on the road it was reading 14.3v
and 14.4v
It reads 14.4v when charging and 12.6v when not charging or when engine off.
Sounds like you had a dodgy connection. It's a common issue on these.
