Post by: thesorcerer on September 09, 2021, 08:12:55 AM
How do I find out the actual year of my 1400GTR as I am trying to find out if it is capable of using the new E10 fuel

According to the government website anything from 2008 is ok for E10 pre 2008 should carry on using the E5 👍

hope this helps 👍

However I was listening to something about this a few days ago on Jeremy Vine Radio 2 show and they pointed out that the ethanol attacks plastics and other such materials, so if a bike or car has a plastic tank, it probably won't be suitable long term. I'm not sure if any research has been done to prove or disprove this though.

I understand the new fuel is supposed to be greener but the expected fuel efficiency will be reduced slightly.

Alcohol does not affect plastics but does affect some rubbers.
All Japanese motorcycles have been alcohol resistant for decades as they were selling bikes in alcohol using countries even in the eighties.

Plenty of my pals who own, run and maintain their 70s Kawasaki Triples are/ have experienced  damage to components of their bikes from fuel containing E5 & E10, so much so that such bikes are now being drained of fluids if they  are likely to be left 'standing' for any extended period of time

Steve what are you doing listening to Jeremy Vine ?   Can't stand the man myself

I don't listen to Jeremy Vine to listen to him personally but I do like to listen to some of his guests he has on discussing various topics.
