I've always been a Kawasaki lover.. from the mid seventies with the KH'S to date with the recent 2020 H2 SX SE and to many Kawasaki's in between to mention  Really enjoyed our recent Scotland trip even though I cut it short as was feeling :shit: as never got over the flu I caught a few weeks earlier off the grandkids.. even though I rather not admit the H2 SX SE did cause me a quite a few pains here and there.. well I'm not getting any younger so thought it's time to get myself a more comfortable steed as hope to be touring Europe again either later in the year if possible :whistling: if not next year for defo.. whatever steed I decided to go for has a lot to live up to as the Kawasaki H2 SX SE is a tuff act to follow.. was not going to take any chances on bike's I've not toured on before so thought best to stick with what I know to be a excellent all rounder.. so back to the dark side as had 2 B.M.W R1200 GS'S in the past and found them to be excellent for comfort/touring and in the twisties.. so decided on the new model 2021 B.M.W R1250 GS adventure triple black.. Recently had the first 600 mile service done and went for a 240 mile ride today around North wales.. well impressed with the new "shift cam" on the 1250 model as it pulls strong in any gear.. ok... it won't pull your arms off like the H2 SX SE use to  but to be honest.. I only use the full power on the H2 SX SE a few times and remember thinking to myself this is going to end in tears at some point :whistling: here is a few pics of my new steed first pic just before collection and today on the horseshoe pass..
Hiya Dave, I know from our telephone conversations that you are now much happier with your new GS and fully understand your reasons for choosing a bike that is more suitable for your biking needs
We all reach a time in life when age and/or illness almost forces a decision to change our bikes, unfortunately some find themselves in a position where biking becomes impossible or unsafe.
I know you are happy with your bike, which by the way looks great, Im sure you will enjoy many more miles with the new 'un.
Stay safe, take it easy and most of all enjoy, will speak soon
They're bloody crap those GSA's what did you go and get one of those for!!
Sorry I just slipped into PRD mode there for a second, :mfr_lol:

I'm I missing something here :whistling: Remember Steve we are all entitled to our opinions having said that.. anyone who says the B.M.W R1200/R1250 GS'S are crap most likely have not ridden one
Exactly, I managed to pick up a full set of Ali luggage for the GSA yesterday from someone on the GS forum who was selling them at a reasonable price. More importantly they are in excellent condition (and were cheap) :mfr_lol: I just need to get somewhere booked now so I can fill them up.

Nice one Steve.. I assume "ASDA PRICE" :whistling: there is no excuse for not booking a trip for a few days or more A.S.A.P just let me know where and when and a few days noticed
P.S do you need to get the locks changed or weren't they ignition coded?

No, the seller was sensible and he had a spare key cut for the panniers so I will just use that. I'm not fussed about having to use a different key to the ignition key to open the panniers\top box etc.
Glad you got them Steve and that they are in good condition

good to see that I have not been forgotten on this forum. I have ridden some new BMW's lately. From what I read there do seem to be some issues with them. Flapper valve and on the RT connectivity problems with tft screen.

And he's back in the room. :mfr_lol:
Shortly after collecting my 3k mile 1250 GSA from Allan Jeffries my flapper valve stuck, the TFT brought up an error code, Jeffries confirmed it was the flapper valve. They ordered a replacement which includes replacement of the header pipes and duly fitted it. The bike could still be used while I waited for the part which I think was 48 hrs. Picked up the bike, shiny new header pipes which was a winner. No issues since but I'm not bothered if it repeats itself as it has a 2 year warranty.
I've read a few threads on the GS forum where owners have had issues connecting various devices to the TFT, the solution across the range of bikes fitted with a TFT is to ensure it has the latest firmware update installed. The updates are provided free of charge, I had mine done just to keep it current even though I don't connect anything to it.

Bloody hell Steve.. flapper valve got stuck.. DAM.. can't think of anything worse than that happening when on full trust :whistling:  as far as the tft connecting issues.. well not arsed about that.. as I don't connect my headset via the tft for directions.. prefer to go via the nav6.. also don't listen to music or use phone when riding as would rather not have any distractions.. plus I like to talk to myself.. and will even answer myself back.. if I tell myself I'm in the wrong and I think in the right :mfr_lol:

It's not just me then Dave :mfr_lol:
Steve, do you know that the BMW warranty can be extended on an annual basis through BMW themselves, and is very comprehensive?
I still have my 2010 K1300GT under warranty, including recovery to the dealer and delivery afterward if required. The dealer takes care of everything, I only need to let them know of the problem. If it is covered (there seem to be few exclusions) even "wear and tear" is included, if a part fails prematurely!
I've had new throttle bodies fitted, handlebar switchgear both sides, coil packs and more with no quibble. The only refusal to date was for a fractured weld on an exhaust header pipe, at around 45,000 miles.
There is, I believe a limit of 80,000 miles when taking out the warranty, and 100,000 miles in total.
Whilst not cheap, compared with extending the warranty on any quality car, it is, to my mind a real bargain.
Colin, thanks for the info, yes I knew that. It's just shy of £400 per year but worth it when you consider the electronics and such like on the bikes. However it's covered under the normal used warranty until late 2022 so I'm covered in any case.

Have you considered buying one? See if you can get a low chassis model with the low seat option, have you checked out any local dealers like Penrith Motorcycles?
