Hi.
I have always powered my Pure DAB radio from the 12v outlet on the dashboard with no problems. In an effort to make the connection more permanent, I wired the unit into the accessory wires under the left hand fairing but now the unit runs on mega volume for 2 minutes and stops? Is there a difference in voltage/wattage/amperage between the cigarette outlet and the accessory wires?
Sorry if this seems a stupid question but I'm stumped

Should be 12v. Have you thought of a fuzeblock (http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,278.msg2688.html#msg2688) instead?
If at any point you wired the radio in the wrong way around you probably fried it's polarity protection diode.
The accessory point provides 12v (up to 14v when motor is running) and the radio draws what current it needs.
If the polarity diode is fried it will sometimes work briefly.
The diode will be in the radio.
This is why it's always a good idea to fit a fuse that's rated just above the current rating of your device.
If it draws 1.2 Amps then fit a 2 Amp fuse, before you hook it up.
That way if you reverse the polarity, it will blow the fuse before the diode.
Nice one Boomer, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I did indeed wire it in the wrong way round the first time, could the diode be in the cigarette adaptor
If the radio takes less than 12v in then it could be in the cigarette adaptor.
Should be an easy fix if ya can handle a soldering iron.
If the radio runs on 12V then it will almost certainly be on the circuit board.
If that is the case then it can sometimes be repaired.
