Title: Todays trip to Lancashire
Post by: patrick on July 31, 2011, 07:27:51 PM
This weekend's  NEG Event was the 2001 UK ironman competition.

1300 competitors (ooops sorrry  athletes) who did a 2.8 mile open water swim, a 112 mile cycle race and topped it off with a 26 mile runing race.

We (Neg group of 6) only supported the cycle leg of the event and this took place on a mixture of open roads, partially closed and fully closed roads. I hope to have a video clip  to post soon.

The winnner took a fraction under 8.5 hours for the whole event!

I get tired thinking of that!
I did have a look at training for endurance events (think a marathon a day), and the training these athletes do is mental.

Well done mate and to all your chums as well  ;D
I have done, and still do the standard olympic distance ( 1.5 Km swim 40 Km bike and a 10 Km run ) which of course is a lot less than any Ironman effort !
It amazes me that after the swim AND the bike the top boys will then run a 2.40 hr Marathon ........ THAT is mental !!!!!

Here is my 1st GTR On-board video from the Ironman UK event.  Forgive the quality as I suspect I've not set the best resolution in the editng software (also the 1st time i've used Pinnacle 14) and the music is the packaged royalty free stuff!

Thats alright that is. I felt sorry for that guy in the yellow jersey near the beginning who just toppled over :o
You can add any music you want to Pinnacle, when you upload it to You Tube they do send you an email giving advice about copyright but thats all it is, advice. I use Pinnacle Studio HD, if you need any hints or tips I'll try and help you. (If you need it of course).

We all did the full bike course but were not invovled in supporting the cycling.

I've been tinkering with the camera and found that the focus was set too cloes  so hopefully next vid will  be crisper.
