Is anyone going out for a Sunday isolation ride? I'm hoping to get out for a couple of hours tomorrow, take a sandwich, drink etc. I can't see it being a problem.
I went yesterday, kept in my to work area just in case, no sandwich, drink or stopping except to auto fill up. 9 to 10 degrees was chilly by the time I got home. But the grin was broad. enjoy
Steve, I've used the bikes quite a few times to pick up things that we need. Yesterday I saw someone towing a dinghy, presumably bound for the coast, as well as a lot of bikes, quite a number of which were riding in groups. I was turning left at a roundabout and pulled up next to a police car that was going straight ahead and, as expected he was not interested in me. The picnic areas in The forest were busy too.
Just been out for 2hrs of therapy on Vivien. Had a fun ride towards Mersea Island and then backroads round Colchester, towards Chelmsford, and home. I was pretty rusty at first but it soon came back to me. Plenty of traffic out and about and many of them seem to have forgotten how to NOT cut corners. Many were 2 feet over the white line mid corner. :nono:
Most of the traffic passing through our tiny village is agricultural, either tractors,
quad bikes, pick up trucks farm feed trucks or milk tankers. Today in amongst the 'usual traffic was a group of cyclists and a guy on an AT which was unusual,
I had my grass to cut and some gardening to do, I was tempted though as the weather was stunning.
Maybe this week sometime
Glad I'm not the only one going out for a ride.
I'm not sure when I last used it to be honest. I had a great time today, OC will know this place....Tan Hill Inn? A 175 mile round trip, didn't speak to anyone, didn't have to stop anywhere where there were people, took my own food and drink and already had fuel from pre Christmas.
I did feel a bit rusty too at first, the bike felt strange but after a few miles I settled in and cracked on and enjoyed the ride. To be honest towards the end of the ride I was getting a bit fatigued through lack of practice but I made it home without incident. A nice soak in the bath to ease my aching back and what a morale booster it was. I feel great after that.
There were a few Police about up at Tan Hill but I was ignored, even though they did stop and speak to some people in some parked cars. I saw another Police vehicle near Hawes but no problems and finally there was a bike cop at Ribblehead Viaduct, but again no interaction so whether this was because I was on my own rather than being in a group, who knows.

Yes I know the Tan Hill pub very well, I imagine the 360° view from there was stunning today

I wish I'd had the opportunity to find out. I'd planned on putting the drone up as for once, the wind was quite tame up there but with the Police sniffing round I didn't want to chance my luck. I'll be back. :mfr_lol:

It will be worth the wait Steve

Yeah it seems a lot of people in London decided to flock to the various parks to sun bathe in sweltering 13 degree temperatures, that just screams desperation. I'm not sure if it's simply creative news reporting but there seems to be a constant stream of news reports emerging from London for breaches of the restrictions. I can honestly say I haven't seen anything similar up here where I live. We must all be Saints! :mfr_lol:
It'll need to be a damn site warmer weather for me to parade around in my budgie smugglers :mfr_lol:
To be fair the uk media could make a major international scandal out of a local bun fight, if made money. No principles expected or honesty required. Nature of the beast, I'm sure like many you've been there, read the write up after and thought - not even close.
