when removing the original battery FTZ14-BS i noticed the positive & negative terminal bolt's were both barely finger tight, it's been on the gtr since new in 2012,i decided to replace it any way for piece of mind, i contacted the dealers for a replacement & they provided me with a yuasa YTZ14S,it's the same length & width as the original, but it's about 2 inches shorter in height.looking online at reviews on the yuasa batteries they are a decent battery.would being shorter be a problem.
No, but it may be lower rated w,r.t. CCA.
Many of the Lithium batteries are much smaller than the stock battery and they all work fine too. Just make sure it won't bounce around.
i am still not convinced that the yuasa YTZ14S is the correct replacement battery for my ZG1400CBF ,i've looked on several sites online & halfords state (this is not suitable for your vehicle) looks like i'll be taking it back if that's the case, surely the dealers should know if not i'll be asking for a refund & get the SHIDO LTX14-BS LITHIUM ION. due to the dealers being closed at the present time, i've emailed the a couple time's with no reply.
Lithium ion batteries are only 4 amp hour, so you can't put your hazards on for long before your battery is flat.
They can supply lots of cold cranking amps and are nice and light for race bikes. Just not much use for practical bikes like ours.
Take your battery back as it's not the right physical size so can't be clamped safely.
Fit an agm battery of the right size.
Motobat are good, so are many others.
Motobat have 4 terminals which make it east to fit accessories. They are also 16 amp hours instead of the original 14, but are the right size for your bike.
