I had the 1400 covered with Start for GB & Europe and my other bikes via my MCE policy.
I'm very happy to say that now an outstanding claim has been settled 100% in my favour I can move to a decent insurer (via Footman James) for a lot less premium and with reasonable excesses.
However they don't have the breakdown & recovery cover I need, I think I'll leave the 1400 with Start, £60 for the year which as mentioned includes Europe.
I do have two other bikes on the road at the moment one of which is registered in 1995 as well as a small car which I haven't bothered to cover as it doesn't go very far.
AA seem a good bet £129 anything I ride/drive or am a passenger in, no vehicle age limit.
Start Breakdown, nothing over 8 years old and Green Flag nothing over 15 years.
RAC have a terrible reputation at the moment so I didn't bother asking.
Any thoughts people?
For me COOP family Breakdown cover, had it for years. Named members of your family covered in any vehicle, limited only by dimensions of vehicle. So far good as gold when called upon. Sensible money for a one stop policy with peace of mind.
Im with the aa used them when ktm 990 rectifier went when in the lakes good service , if you want europe cover the price is to high , also if you say crash they will not recover you so i have been told ,
Ray, I've been with Footman James for many, many years now and have full cover for breakdowns (including European recovery) as part of my policy.
I do think that these are additions to the basic policy, as with the family legal cover etc. because they are with different insurers. However they always appear on an insert in the Policy Booklet and are charged as part of the Policy. I wonder whether they did not offer them to you to keep the quote as attractive as possible for a new customer?
AutoAid, https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/
I have my bank account with Nationwide and £13 per month fee includes Europe wide breakdown cover for any vehicle I am driving. Useful as I have family in Belgium & Luxembourg and friends all over Europe.
Thanks, that's really useful.
I'll have another shop around.
Just testing to see if it works, as nothing else I try to post does.
Does this work?
I can post here, nowhere else, oh well if nobody wants a free screen and Laminar lip then tough.
Seems I am allowed just the one line of text.

Have you tried dropping Asif an email? His address is under his details in the members list.

Nope
I have also experienced some problems over the last 48 hrs or so. Intermittent when trying to post responses to Big Al and also when trying to send PM's. I have however emailed Asif who is now aware of the problem and working on a solution. I'm not sure why Big Al didn't simply do as I did and email Asif?
Tried. Database error
