Bought replacement forks but the caliper carrier at the bottom became damaged trying to get one out. It looks like it is difficult to find replacements! Are the ones on the ZZR1400 the same?
Looking at the parts diagram, the caliper carrier is part of the lower fork and already attached to the fork leg, so you'd need the whole assembly. They certainly look the same, but they are different part numbers, even excluding the paint code extension to that number. I wonder if the tube length is different?
The ZZR forks have compression damping adjusters on the bottom casting, the GTR ones just have the lump in the casting where the adjuster should be.
The stanchion tube unscrews from the bottom casting for easy replacement and can be bought separately.
After many weeks, issue now resolved. My original fork stanchions were worn out, trying to remove the caliper carrier resulted in stripping the tread, rendering them useless. Bought a pair of used ZZR forks and took them and the new stanchions to Firefox in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Andy was able to split the carriers and rebuild the forks with the compression valves working. Happy days!
