Title: service/MOT/loan bike
Post by: tapps on June 04, 2020, 05:35:53 PM
well that's certainly opened my eye's, i took my 2nd bike a 15 plate triumph thruxton 900 in for it's 6000 mile service & MOT,it flew through the MOT with no advisories,i half expected a small bike as a loan bike, how wrong was i,it was a 2020 THRUXTON 1200 RS,with only 211 mile's on the clock, what a lovely ride & the power was just amazing, the ride was really smooth,i dont think i had the need to use the 6th gear i still have my 2012 kawasaki GTR1400 in the best colour (GREEN) maybe i'll think about doing a P/X with the 900 for a 1200,i was totally amazed at the 1200 version, there's so much more power there if you need it !!!!!

offering a 'carefully selected' loan bike is good policy for selling a customer a new bike[

Get it bought.......you know you want to      /color]

Yes as OC has said, there is method in their madness. Tease you with a new steed, on the balance of probabilities there will always be a small percentage of folk who return the courtesy bike and say, I like that, what would you give me in PX for one.

well,my kawasaki dealers in the past had a HONDA it was either a 400or 500cc with a top box,as a loan bike,it looked like a right pile of crap,i even got pulled over by the police while riding it Home it was MOT'D that morning & hadn't yet shown on the system.i had to explain.it wasn't mine it was a loan bike from the dealer's.they called the dealers & let me go on my way.so it's not always a case of DANGLING THE CARROT !!!!

Autorama used to provide Asif with a ZZR which coincidentally was a bike he was always rather partial to. The tight git never bought one though.

When I bought the Blackbird new in May  2001 from Ronnie Linton Honda  in Ballymena I  did 600 miles on it that first week and then left it back in on the Thursday evening to get its first service in time to take it to the NW200 that Saturday. When I was dropping it off at 5pm I asked for a loan bike to get me the 30 miles  home and then  back the next evening. So Ronnie said 'No problem' and promptly wheeled out a Honda C90 cub with a straight face. With an equally straight face (in full leathers) I climbed aboard and he talked me through the salient features of the mighty cub including the heel and toe gear change. He also mentioned it had new tyres so I needed to take it easy on the corners and keep the speed down until they were scrubbed in. I then asked if there was fuel in it and he said he'd forgotten but would fill it up for me and wheeled it back out of the service Dept. Meanwhile the mechanic Robert and 3 or 4 customers were quietly chuckling in the background.

Five minutes later he arrived back, this time with a demo Fireblade which had about 200 miles from new but was filthy. He said he couldn't be bothered filling the cub so I'd just have to take this instead. I told him I was so taking that up the coast road that evening and again the next day before I came back and he just shrugged.

When I brought it back the next day at 5pm he laughed so I asked 'What now?', Ronnie asked me how far I'd got on the Blade before I'd washed it. When I admitted it grieved me to see it so dirty so I'd gone straight to the filling station round the corner and thoroughly washed it he said 'I knew you'd do that and that's why I lent it to you. And I knew you'd bring it back in one piece'

Not sure who had the last laugh. He'd got his demo bike washed but I'd put 300 miles on it in 24 hours.
