Just been reading that the govement are going to try make it so you have to have 14 stay at home if you go abroad when you come back to include all ports and ferrys , have just rebooked my 5 day trip for end of August this will fuck everyone up and no one will go ,they did not stop any one coming back in for the 8 week lockdown now after all of Europe starts to open up they trying to bring in a 14 day quarantine ffs ..
Not many people will be able to go for a fortnights holiday then go into quarantine for two weeks but how ,will they police it. However £1000 fine if caught breaking it.
I think the Government are going to impose this because they were criticised for not doing so initially as other countries did, Australia being a prime example. As of today, Australia have only 100 deaths from Covid 19. Regardless of the population pro-rata between Australia and us, the outcome for the Aussies is a clear indication that they addressed the problem in the correct manner as did new Zealand.
I understand that initially Australia were relying on returning nationals to self isolate for 14 days in their homes of their own accord but when this was monitored it was found that many were not doing so and therefore mandatory stays in hotels were implemented for 14 days.
It worked.
.
I've got to say that the Gov't may have got some things wrong, but they have got a whole lot of things right, there is no precedent with this virus, they are obviously trying to do their best in impossible circumstances... sometimes they are damned if they do and damned if they don't
Hindsight is a very precise science
Easy to snipe when the decisions are theoretical.
Piers Morgan, if you're such an expert on everything stand for election.
At least the Govt decided to take advice from the scientists and follow that advice. As you say, no hindsight available to help until now.
Piers Morgan.... I won't beat about the bush, who else thinks he's an arrogant, patronising, argumentative prick?

Does anyone honestly, unequivocally know the answers?
No Steve, they generally don't,
One question I have, and there may be no answer for is, why are pricks like Piers Morgan hailed as 'champions' by some folk
Politicians should be fully prepared when asked questions about their department. In this government it is all bluster. They are following their leader.!
He claims that Govt Ministers are afraid to come on his programme because he asks hard questions. The reality is that he just shouts at them and won't let them answer.
I see he's suddenly decided he's been too hard on Harry and Me~again. Nothing to do with him doing shows in USA soon for the same Network that Megan has signed a contract with. It's obvious he's been told to wind his neck in or lose his contract.
Me again, I like that. :mfr_lol:
I don't follow politics, it doesn't interest me, I don't understand it and I don't trust any of them. However this year I've taken a slight interest, I even know who Matt Hancock is and I can recall some of his speeches which have come in handy.
I cited some of his ramblings to an Officer of the law who was being a prick towards me a while ago about being out with my dog in the countryside. It worked they backed off and I was informed I could continue with my therapy for my well being and health.
:mfr_lol:
well thats well fucked it now bloody french have retaliated by saying anyone comes to france will have to lock down for 14 days ,,its the end of the world I can't cope off for a nervous brakedown :gun_bandana:
Travel outside the UK is possibly never going to return to a situation where it previously was. I'm itching to go and see my Sister in Oz but I can't see that happening anytime soon.
And it's one rule for us and another one for them. Dominic Cummins Can travel long distances when he is ill and we can't.
When you look at who is trying to get Dominic Cummings sacked, they are diehard Remoaners.
Led by Ian Blackford, that'll be the Ian Blackford who has been travelling between London and Scotland so much during the lockdown he has the highest travel expenses of all 600 MP's.
It was OK for Gordon Ramsey to travel from London to Cornwall. He got a verbal warning for then driving round each of his houses to check on them. His one hour daily exercise involved him being stopped 35 miles from home on his bicycle. So he needed to average 70mph to get back in time.
The Cummings thing is about who he is, not what he's done.
Booked on ferry to France 1st week on August. French need the tourists to visit so I'm hopeful I'll get there. Currently, you can only enter Ireland from France if you're Irish returning home.
Might have to have a cunning plan. Use my British passport going to France. Use my Irish passport coming home.
I think it is about what he has done. He has clearly broken the rules and should do the decent thing or be sacked.
He says he hasn't broken the rules. He claims he went to a house close to his parents and sister. He did not have any contact with them. His sisters dropped groceries and medication outside. He says he and his family were not spoken to by the Police. I'm not taking his side, just giving his version.
When Boris went into hospital he sent Carrie to Chequers. Essential travel? Who knows but nobody batted an eyelid.
The correct punishment for Cummings if he did break the rules is a £60 fixed penalty ticket. Exactly the same as anyone else.
That is not happening though Is it. Did they stop at any service stations along the way and infect others. We do not know. He has not done the right thing particularly as he is supposed to be an adviser to Boris. And where is Boris these days he seems to have vanished? Probably a bit embarrassed by his last tv appearance!
Just saying it suits the Guardian and the Remainers to jump all over this. Once he found out his wife had coronavirus symptoms he, his wife and son went to a house and stayed there for 14 days with no outside contact. I'm sure if he stopped at a service station it'll come out.
The professor who resigned it now turns out predicted 500,000 deaths from SARS. The correct number was 18,500. So maybe he didn't believe his own advice and isn't a great loss.
Piers Morgan is threatening to visit his parents. He's too stupid to realise that, as long as he stays 2m away and doesn't stay overnight with them, he's not breaking the rules.
Not sure what remainders have to with this. He broke the rules and he should not have done.
Pete did he break a rule or did he break a law.
well it gives the press something else to whinge about
Personally I'm hacked off with the media ....totally :2guns:

I would say let it go, there's far bigger problems in the world than dwelling on something which has happened and you can't change. Focus on the future. None of us can say we've never done something we shouldn't have in the past.
I'm still laughing that yer woman Jennifer Anaconda (not right but close enough) kept going on TV and hinting that Boris banged her. She went on several of the morning talk shows promising to reveal all then refused to say whether he did or didn't. They got really hacked off with her but she made a few quid out of letting them think she'd spill the beans.
That wasn't the really funny bit. She said Boris and her were 'very close' but then he ghosted her. Jennifer said she rang Boris' mobile and quote:
'somebody answered pretending to be Chinese and asking what meal I wanted'
Bad enough it happened, but to admit it on TV?
Cummings is the prime suspect for that one.

Duke of wellington
If Cummings went back and forth more than once, then he deserves to be punished. He claims he went to Durham (26/27 March) and came back to London on 14 April. One trip. The witness who says he saw him 30 miles from his parents farm after that is a '70 year old retired teacher who knows him from the village'
Why was the 70 year old 30 miles from home during lockdown?
Prince Charles started lockdown in Scotland but was back in London before it ended.
What's his name the footballer flew to Paris for party but hasn't been sacked.

See. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11705524/dominic-cummings-thought-right-detailed-statement-defending/
I don't consider myself gullible nor am I cynical, but we watched his account live on T.V yesterday as did millions of others I suspect and I saw a man trying to be honest and open about events.... if I've got that wrong then maybe he would be better suited to a life on stage as an actor
I did laugh this morning as former 'special advisers' to both Theresa May and Tony B-liar were interviewed on breakfast T.V presumably as some sort of 'comparative' ....just think about it :mfr_lol: :ohplease:

Country facing the biggest threat to health and wealth for 75 years. It's good to see where their priorities lie.

Couldn't give a rats shit about Dominic Cummings having travelled to Durham. If there is going to be an enquiry as to whether he did right or wrong we need to enquire as to what each and every MP has been doing, especially the opposition. Also whilst I'm having my two penneth, what about the Paps outside Cummings house? As a site engineer I can categorically confirm that they were not complying with the social distancing rule of 2mtrs - didn't see that reported in the National ass wipes. :censored: :censored:
I still can't get my head around why anyone would voluntarily travel to Durham.
On the plus side Durham is getting a lot of extra publicity. What I don't understand is why in a half hour journey little boy needed a toilet break but in the long run north he didn't. But if he did, where did he stop for it and who was infected then. I could not travel from London to Durham without a toilet break. Also as I understand it it is illegal to drive a car just to make sure your eyesight is good enough to undertake a journey. Any doubts you should not be driving.
Yes I have to admit going for a drive to see if you can see is a strange thought pattern to process. You can either see or you can't.
All he had to do was say that he was panicking about his child and drove to Durham which was a mistake and apologise. But he is too arrogant for that and now is in a spot of bother.

I have read the statement in full, as well as watching the presentation.
Perhaps the child was asleep during the journey and didn't need a pee, (maybe he doesn't bed wet,) so this would be a possibility
I think Cummings states that the half hour drive to Barnard Castle was in order to establish that he was safe to drive, after which he considered he was, he does have an important role to perform after all (like him or not) and therefore needed to return to the Capital.
This is IMHO being blown out of all proportion by the media, which is after all what they thrive on and depend upon, and some sections of the public enjoy feeding off.
Like others I couldn't give a shit about the journey to Durham, in the wider scheme of things it really isn't that vital, I'm more concerned with the re-opening of retail outlets and making safe the return to work of workers and the return to school for school children who, up to know, have enjoyed what some called an 'extended holiday'.
Deaths from covid in NI in last 24hrs - zero.
Deaths from motorcycle accidents in last 48 hrs - sadly one.
Children bring kept off school until September - unjustifiable.
Trying to prevent second wave. Feeble excuse.
IMHO
And the media ramping up negativity at every possible opportunity is doing no good for the spirit of the country, at a time like this we need the reporting of some good news, there must be some out there somewhere
I'm totally sick of the whole media scenario......... anyway who writes the scripts for these supposed 'expert' correspondents ? or is it just their own opinions ? which I can largely see through and definitely don't share
According to various polls, 71% of the population think that Dominic should go. If he really cares about our country he will go and theN whoever is in power can crack on.

Polls say 71% think he broke the rules. 55% think he should go.
The Remainers could take that 55% and say that most of those people are too old or stupid to have an opinion. Therefore he should stay. But because he's a Brexiteer that won't happen.

The press and media are hounding Cummings because he engineered Brexit .... there are a number of other MPs who have also made lengthy journeys which are technically against Gov't guidelines (notice I didn't say illegal) and they have escaped the spotlight
Whether he engineered Brecit or not I think the problem is he broke the rules. And that has already debased people's attitude to lockdown. Why could he not say he made a mistake and apologise. Too arrogant I guess

The person leading the 'sack Cummings' brigade is SNP Ian Blackford. Who has now been found to have broken the same rules travelling over 600 miles during lockdown. With Blackford and many others this is a political attempt to weaken Boris. Nothing else.
