Title: Timing Retard Eliminators
Post by: Tynesidebob on May 02, 2020, 05:23:30 PM
Does the GTR1400 have the same power restriction in the lower gears that the zzr1400 has?
With the zzr a programmable gear indicator can be used to tell the bike it is always in 5th gear which gives it max power in every gear.
I am new to the gtr so this is probably an old / dumb question.
Cheers
Bob

Yes, it does. Can be bypassed with a plug in module, or by removing the secondaries, or best of all by sending your ECU to our Michael Cox for a flash.

Cheers Boomer.
Now I just need the chance to ride the thing.
I have just drilled and bolted the panniers after being shocked by the pannier theft reported on here.
Now I'll have to read up how to remove the ecu.
How much does a ref lash cost?

The ECU is in the tail, under the seat. Not too difficult to get out.

IIRC the SHOODABEN flashes are €350 from Michael Cox in Germany.
Michael does these flashes

I already have the older DECEL flash and will shortly be upgrading to the Mountain Runner Premium.

Excuse my ignorance in these matters but what will the mountain runner premium do for your bike?

About a 10% increase in top end power, 22% more torque below 3000rpm, and WAY less throttle snatchiness.
It's also slightly more economical but since it doesn't use the exhaust lambda sensors the emissions are probably worse.
Luckily they don't test those on motorcycles yet.
Check out his website, plenty of explanation and charts on there.

The net effect for me with the older Decel flash that I got in 2016 was that I could stay one gear higher when cruising and get on the throttle sooner coming out of corners because of the smoother throttle. I'm told the Mountain Runner Premium is even better so I'll be sending mine to Michael shortly for an upgrade.
