I have an on/ off grabbing sensation from the front brakes- not a pulsing, like you'd get with warped discs. The disc bobbins are seized solid. I've been soaking them in plus gas for days and they still won't budge. So... I was wondering if drilling them out and replacing them with some removable ones is the way to go?
Have any of you done this? Any suggestions?
Can you recommend what ones to get/ what size, etc? I'm hoping to avoid disc replacement at this time, as I have the suspension off and it's being uprated, so I'm a bit short on cash.
Keep safe, Nick.
How are you trying to rotate them?
I'd use a bolt and a couple of washers, then a locknut and tighten enough to grip. Rotate the bolt with a decent socket and it should go round. Squirt some brake cleaner in there as well

Yep, being doing that. It's not moving. Went to the plus gas after the brake spray didn't do anything.
My GTR suffered from this problem at around 7,500 miles, the braking action at low speeds was erratic and it was difficult to judge quite where the bike would finally stop, as it seemed to depend on whether it was a "grab" or release moment. Bobbins had been cleaned and rotated every two weeks or so from new, with no effect.
Eventually the discs were replaced under warranty, however by the time that I sold the bike (around 7,000 miles later) the problem was staring to manifest itself again.
The bike was always ridden gently (although often two - up) and, as the same happened to the Versys 1000 that replaced it, I began to wonder whether it was the "wavy" discs that caused the problem? (I have not suffered the same issue with either the Ducati ST2 that came before the GTR, or either of the two BMW's that I have owned and covered far more mileage on).
Do you have the original discs or replacements? My replacement discs have bobins that have flats on them and are not supposed to turn.

It sounds like it's all a bit late now, but simple and regular maintenance really is a must do job, it's quite straightforward and will help avoid this problem ..
Check this video for help, good luck
