So no more bike rides for at least three weeks. Everything is at a standstill.
I'm not surprised to be honest, I went out on Saturday to North Yorkshire, Devils Bridge was heaving and bikers who were there were ignoring any advice to keep a safe distance from others and were stood shoulder to shoulder with others.
I guess we reap what we sow.
very worrying time's, i will have cancel my MOT which is booked in on the 31st,as i work in food distribution i will still have work, stay safe people.
When I'm going for essential supplies I might use the bike just to keep it going. But I will just go to shop and back. Won't take the p*ss.
now's the time to clean and polish the bike , dont think it helped that boris shut all the pubs then said go out and exercise i saw lots of stately homes saying house is shut gardens open should have shut all at once . Sun is coming out clean bike in the warmth :mfr_lol:

Now you have time to do other stuff. I've been fixing my shed, building planters, fitting garden lights. I have also been attempting to make my own bike seat and many other things I've never had time for.
As for 3 weeks, more likely to be 3 months unless all this sunshine continues and the UV kills the virus.
Yeah as Boomer says, 3 weeks is very optimistic, I suspect it will be late April or even mid May before things start looking better. I hope I'm wrong though.

Too many idiots out there I'm afraid not isolating themselves while they don't it will carry on taking lives they don't understand that isolation is killing it.
Just read on the news that West Midlands Police gate crashed a group of about 20 folk including kids enjoying a BBQ behind some flats. The Police smelt the food cooking and homed in and broke it up. What hope do we have?
On a more serious note, my local BMW dealer closed yesterday thanks to the orders from Boris, thank God I had the bike serviced last week and the plugs and valves done in preparation for my bike trip in May to Scotland. The weather is great, perfect biking weather, might go out later for a ride into the Dales.......
If only it was that easy. :gun_bandana:
I predict I am going to have a very clean and highly polished bike during the next couple of weeks. :sweatdrop:
It's still not clear if it is okay to take a recreational ride out, common sense tells me that it isn't as in the event of a breakdown (unlikely) or an accident then third parties would be involved
Twice this week groups of bikers have gone for a ride out at Matlock I think it was in excess of 70+ rider.
And another place in Wales you can see why the locals get wound up and start becoming anti- bikers :censored: just a few weeks may stop it it's not hard

If it doesn't fall into the essential journey category, as tempting as it is and I've been trying to think of reasons I could use to justify a recreational ride myself, don't do it.

Agreed, I don't intend to Steve, we live in a very rural location and self isolating pretty much reflects any other day TBH
Anyway it's only in the last few days that the weather here has been anything like good enough to make me want to ride out .... brrrrrr
Yes I have to agree, so far as far as I am concerned, circumstances haven't really differed from any other normal day.
I'm still walking the dogs on The Moors which is good, its good for the soul and mind and the exercise is beneficial too.
I am one of the ones showing Coronavirus symptoms.
Isolated for 7 days to be reviewed weekly tried to get the bike in the flat but the stairs are a bit tight for the GTR :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Same here O.C. I am diabetic and have a lung problem at the moment so that is why I have to check again in seven days time they did tell me the Coronavirus can clear but the cough can remain for quite a few weeks so we will plod along

Nothing stopping recreational ride, until police start stopping you.. which they are.. and doing you for un-necessary journey, or a small mishap takes you to a virus filled hospital :-(
I'm noticing a vast increase in cyclists since lockdown. Surely they must be at risk as well.

They are probably getting away with it as a daily exercise like walking the dog 👍.
As long as not a group of them . I don't think a motorcycle 🏍 ride would be classed as that :mfr_lol:
Tony, I hope it's just a bug you have and not the virus, try and stay optimistic. Have you been working during the last couple of weeks, if so are any work colleagues you've been in contact with displaying similar symptoms?
I need to visit my mother who is 10 miles away, 86 years old and registered disabled, she wants yogurt and bananas, my sister has got her sorted with the normal stuff but she insists she needs these items.
So it's a bike ride to her this morning as she can have what the yogurt the grandkids would have eaten had they been round.
The long way of course.
Covid-19 Virus is NOT an air born virus read this..... unashamedly stolen from another forum
Airborne refers to any virus or chemicals ability to live outside the body or "in the air". Thankfully, Covid-19 is not airbourne in that it cannot survive outside of a host very long and certainly does not hang around in the air.
It does live for a short while on surfaces which is why cleaning surfaces and hands, etc... is so important.
When we talk or breathe, we naturally release tiny amounts of saliva into the air which can carry the virus, if we're infected. Coughing and sneezing is the most dangerous because that has the same affect but in greater amounts and flung further. So although the 2 meter thing is about touching, it's also to protect you while talking to someone. It's worth remembering 2 meters is the MINIMUM recommended distance.
I hate to say it, but when stood a normally social distance away from each other having a conversation face to face. You are literally spitting over each other on a microscopic level. Sneezes and coughs compound that effect with a stronger concentration of fluid and greater ferocity.
Because this is first and foremost a biking forum, I will say that Lockdown rules aside. Ride or don't ride really doesn't make a difference. Presuming you're riding from your own house, dressed in full protective gear, including you own helmet. If you just leave, ride around in a circle (1 mile or 100 miles doesn't matter). While your self contained you're not spreading or contracting the virus.
The problem is when you stop, refuel, pick up the virus from touching the pump / door handle or from the attendant.
You then ride on to a cafe and meet others from the V forum, share some witty banter over a full English, sitting next to or opposite each other... that's where the problem comes in.
If you're infected, you've not only passed it to your fellow V forum buddy but to the nice cafe lady who served you grub. The local man who came over to chat to you about your bikes. Anyone else in the cafe after you touched the toilet door handle.
Those people are then going to unsuspectingly go home and infect their loved ones. All of a sudden that quiet sleepy village has been affected by the viurs, not previously introduced to their community, just because you wanted to go for a ride!
That's where riding becomes the irresponsible thing to do. :192:
I'm using my bike to go shopping when I need it.
I see even old Boris is now positive! I wonder if he caught it off his Dad, who only last week was insisting on Radio 2 to Jeremy Vine that he would still be visiting his local boozer. :nono:

We have lost nearly 40 drivers with symptoms some with medical conditions have received the letter stating 12 weeks isolation I have to call 111 back after a week .
As I am writing this the idiots who live in our block are sat in the communal garden having a chin wag about how crazy it is they are too thick to stay in there own flats for a couple of weeks :censored: :censored:
You need to go down and speak with them. Tell them you are off work with a confirmed case of Corona Virus and you are trying to get some rest but can't because of the racket they are making.
I suspect there will be a rapid dispersal of anyone who falls into your aforementioned category of an idiot. :mfr_lol:

And if that doesn't work suggest that you could alternatively offer a kick in the nuts..... I am struggling to understand which part of "STAY AT HOME" it is that people just don't get
Or cough on them!
Hope you get better Tony and beat this.
We've had more than our share of idiots over here in the States. I live in Virginia but just across the border in Maryland they arrested an idiot holding a 60 person bonfire party. Warned him once and he did it again. In jail now for the foreseeable future I hope. Public whippings should be brought back.

thanks Jim I agree flogging would be good for some mindless idiots.
We had one so called professional football player make a speech the other day how stopping in helps the NHS and saves lives 👍 then he goes out to a party and has a crash at 4 am driving home .
And In Birmingham small heath because all churches synagogues etc have been closed
People have set up a mosque in house someone filmed around 40+ males leaving some driving away in taxis :censored: :censored: :censored what chance has isolation got with these morons you take care Jim

As a Bus driver you were always going to be at a higher risk of catching it (and anything else going).
Over the last 2 weekends I have replaced part of the cladding on the garden shed, built a wooden planter for Ella, fitted new garden lights and done some little DIY bits here and there.
My plans for this coming weekend involve a garage clean up and wash both bikes.
I also have 2 smoke detectors to fit, need to tidy up the TV cabinet (remove the old Sky system and just generally cable-tidy it and dust), and a few other jobs to do so won't get bored this weekend.
Next weekend,.... well, I'll deal with that when I have to :mfr_lol:
Thanks boomer 👍.
I cleaned the bike the week before I was isolated with the intention of covering it with the ACF 50 spray.
Pace yourself boomer it's a minefield out there :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: .
As for sky :censored: I recently changed to Sky Q . Great to start but then discovered it doesn't like being in a TV/remote friendly cabinet gets to hot and won't come out of standby have to turn of at the mains to reset .found out if I leave the glass door open it's ok so be warned anyone about to change 👍👍

We have SkyQ and concur with your observations, SkyQ was our only option of having a multi room system as we have underfloor heating so nailing down cables isn't a option
Our system often loses contact with the main decoder, usually at the most interesting part of a programme
Life was so much simpler when we only had BBC and ITV!
I ditched Sky in September and switched to Virgin. 2/3rds the price, 5 times faster broadband, same TV channels.
This weekend I'll be ripping out the old Sky system to tidy up the TV cabinet.
And bbc2 came in in 1968 and was colour!
Grounded, but not completely!
19.5 degrees, I needed some meds for one of my hounds so what better way to collect them than on two wheels.
Unfortunately I got lost on the way and ended up on The Moors..... :whistling:
Twas good to have a ride, albeit it a short one.
Roll on the end of the lockdown (in probably another 8 weeks). :hammer:

I will be taking my bike out this morning. My brother is a vulnerable person and is in a 12 week lockdown so I'm taking the bike to collect his medication.
Make sure you don't get lost like I did enroute :whistling:
I'm an at risk individual so I simply dare not go out on my bike, it would far to greater risk, it's sods law that we have eventually got some decent weather after many months of foul weather
Hey ho lockdown won't last forever
Phew made it back!
I've been trying to occupy myself today with a bit of photography. I popped down to the woods and located a discarded tree log and some dried up leaves. Back home, set up a bit of a 'stage', introduced some lighting & a couple of props and the end result was a half decent attempt at still life photography. I've never done anything like this before.
Which do you prefer, colour or black or white?

I would usually opt for Black & White, but on this occasion I think colour is better.
I hope that Bushmills in the glass

You know I love B&W but today colour has it ...nicely done Steve
