Another bike I am looking at is the new Africa twin any thoughts on that?
A friend (previously owned a BMW R1200 RT) bought his second Africa Twin last year. He put quite a few miles on the first bike and, when the updated version came out, decided to buy that as an upgrade. Both are conventional transmission, he tried DCT and wasn't keen.
He says that they are a really excellent bike and that the early one was a bargain pricewise, although the new version is significantly more expensive.
His riding always includes long distance rides in Europe (last year Spain and Portugal, through France) as well as regular riding here.
One major difference between his riding type and yours though, might be that he has never carried a passenger on the Africa Twin?

I thought it was a Honda!
It was a tongue in cheek suggestion Peter .... it does get good write ups, and seems to be V.F.M :whistling:
the Africa twin has got to expensive ,the new 900 bm has a small 16l tank why do they make bikes with to small petrol tanks ,my ktm 1050 has a 23l tank which is ideal for 250 miles between fill ups , a new 1090 one is less than 10k or 8k with 1000m on a bargain done 24000m on mine with not one problem ,
I know you were OC. I have ridden the BMW.
