hi thanks, its the red one advertised on MCN bikes for sale.....
I'm also confused about the years that you have quoted, are you saying that the bike has sat in a dealers showroom for 9 years ?
If that is the case I would be looking elsewhere  or at the very least getting the bike thoroughly checked over, serviced and fully warranted
The GTR is basically a reliable machine but any bike left standing for that length of time is IMHO a bit of a risk
EDIT: I just looked at that bike and whilst it looks great, it is to me an import from the States, (Red wasn't offered here).... and D & C aren't authorised Kawasaki dealers

You do occasionally see the pre 2010 models advertised via dealers even Kawasaki dealers but with post 2010 plates on them. I can't see personally what the issue is, the only observation I would make is that if it is new then I wouldn't expect to pay as much for an older new one than a newer new one! That makes sense to me, hopefully it does to you too. :mfr_lol:

thank you for the help, will speak to garage monday , and get some further info....
Welcome Neile ... although I have moved to the dark side I can honestly say you wont go wrong with any GTR .. regardless of what year it is. It is a great bit of kit.
This bike and more like it have been for sale for some time. Personally I would go for a good used 2 or 3 year old bike for the same money or less and buy an extended warranty from Kawasaki or other. A 2009 model will only have the warranty offered by the seller. There are plenty of them about in dealers or private.
Any bike or car stood for 9 years will need a serious looking over before taking to the road as rubbers and mountings can perish if not cared for.

I was wondering if you had spoken to this dealer regarding these bikes.
I have had a word with my pal who works at the Kawasaki dealership in Batley (Kawasaki Autorama) and he like me thinks that these bikes are actually 2007 models, not that it detracts from the bikes in any way, however they have therefore been stored for 12 + years and I think that is something to be considered.
Anyway good luck with your search
Here's a couple of options for comparison

I have owned four GTR 1400s since 2007 and they are a mighty fine bike, I would still own one if it wasn't for the fact that I no longer need the Continent crushing capabilities of the GTR plus I now need a lighter machine
Yes it would be a 2007 model, nothing wrong with that as long as they're not trying to get £10k or so for it as if that's the case you may as well get a used one with the updates which were introduced in 2010 which would also benefit the buyer if at some future point they wanted to sell.
Exactly  .... which is why I suggested that Neile might want to consider the options that I linked.... the ones for sale at DC are marketed at 10,995, whereas the last one on my links is 8,200 it is also the latest model .... from experience I would go for the latest model, it's a 'better' bike and the mileage isn't high
Of the three examples I'd consider going for the first one, the private sale. With a bit of polite haggling you could easily walk away with that for £7750 if not less. It's a bad time to sell in January but a very strong time to buy after negotiation.
When I got my K1600 in July last year I think it was, I purposely left the purchase to all but the last day of the month. It took about ten minutes of confident discussion over the price and it saved me £500 which I thought was a top result, especially from a dealer.
There's a awful lot of exellent gtr's out there for sale ,you definitely want the latest model ,buy that one of dk and it will plumet in value and be hard to sell when you want to get rid of it , love the way in the add it says handles like a zx10 :mfr_lol:
To clarify, I posted the links as they were the results a very, very quick cursory look at fleabay, (I didn't go into any great detail), I'm sure that with more research, (perhaps in Autotrader bikes), will turn up more opportunities, I hope that Neile understands that these ideas are only for guidance............... I would repeat that the GTR 1400 is a stonking bike guaranteed to put a smile on yer chops
Hope this helps
hi,
thank you all for your help and advice, i am definitely leaning towards a newish second hand with low miles if possible,
i look forward to updating this post, hopefully with a couple of pics .... :biker3:

Good luck with your search Neile, as has already been said 'now is the time to grab a bargain' don't be too focused on finding a very low mileage bike, sometimes one that has covered, say, 10,000 miles in a 12 month period can be a better proposition than one that has covered 10,000 miles over a 3 year period
The later models - 2016 onwards - have a better specification, and I would recommend purchasing from an authorised dealer if possible..... however failing that a reputable dealership that can also offer and apply a quality warranty should also be a consideration
Keep us posted as we like to be nosey
Like others here I'd go for a good used bike rather then a 'new'bike that's sat about for years.
