Title: Thanks for the invite
Post by: David on December 20, 2019, 01:40:46 PM
Although not a GTR owner, after being invited by Mick (GLA55Y) to attend the annual meet in May 2020, thought I'd register to see what's going on and say "hello".

I live in Ingleby Barwick on Teesside, have been riding for 45 years, yes, I am that old!

Own two motorcycles, a 1980 Yamaha XJ650 (had it from new) and a 2012 BMW R1200RT, at least they are both shaft drive and one of them has four cylinders.

Hi again, the majority of members on here are in their mature years, I've been riding 38 years on and off so you're in similar company. This forum used to be predominantly GTR owners but as the years have progressed, some have switched to other brands for a multitude of reasons, usually down to weight. (The bikes weight, not their personal weight). :mfr_lol:

The difference in our bikes is no barrier however to our annual meet up and more recently members have turned up on anything from a cruiser to a car, it's just about getting together and having a chat. The numbers on the meets have dwindled somewhat over recent years, but people move on and others have family commitments so it is what it is.

Our annual meet isn't anything formal, there aren't usually any planned ride outs although there will be an opportunity this year to go to Mull from Oban if anyone fancies a day trip otherwise we'll just go with the flow and see what happens.

So far there are at least four German steeds attending so your bike will be in great company.

Cheers, Steve.

The same can be said of the annual RT meet. I floated the question of riders with other makes attending the meet on the Forum, the response was favourable.
At the end of the day, we are all motorcyclists.

Mull is also accessible by ferry from Ardnamurchan, Kilchonan to Tobermory and across the Sound of Mull at Lochaline to Fishnish, have used all three crossings in the past.

Plus, Ardnamurchan Point is the most Westerly point of the UK mainland.
