So Martin how are you getting on with your new bike?

Well thanks for asking.
Obviously cannot  compare chalk with cheese but.....
Just coming up to 1000 miles, weather protection is less, screen is ok for me at all legal road speeds, not sure about long motorway distances, it could become tiring.

Bike is 2/3rds the weight with 2/3rds the power. I am much happier with it at very low speeds,
Luggage is fine for me riding solo, though o/s pannier is cut out to clear the exhaust.
The TFT screen for me is great, much larger display, it mimics your phone so you can see who is calling you, or what music you have playing. There is a navigation system on the phone app, it's not a sat-nav as it does not display a map but it has pictograms of the road junctions and gives spoken directions into your helmet.

I refuse to call it a Bee-Emm or a Gee-Ess, it's 'the 850' when I speak about it and I refuse to buy into any sort of lifestyle, feel free to shoot me if I do.

Does it have the same TFT as the 1200/1250? Many don't like the new TFT screen and I get that because it's a move away from the traditional analogue dials which for some will be considered as messing with something which worked and worked well on an almost 'iconic' bike.

However new technology and development etc.....I found the TFT to be very informative and the ability for it to also act as a crude navigation device was a bonus. Rumour has it that eventually the TFT will be a fully functional sat nav.

Yes same TFT.
I've always been a fan/liked the looks of twin dial speedo/tacho clocks, never even had a bike with a digital speedo, so the change for me to a completely different bike in so many ways makes the TFT not an issue.
In a world of average speed cameras the cruise control is a bonus, and with better mpg but smaller tank capacity, tank range is still 200 miles to empty. The fuel display gives either bar graph capacity or miles to empty display and when you get to reserve, the whole screen changes to 'reserve capacity, ride to nearest filling station' [ or similar ] you cannot fail to miss the warning and have to make a conscience move on the switch gear to revert to normal display.
The seat is by no means tourer comfortable, I may have to modify/change that for more serious distances.

Otherwise doebag is a very happy bunny.

I'm genuinely pleased for you, and BTW genuinely a fan of my TFT  screen technology on my new Versys1000.

To hell with what anyone else thinks, what really matters is that you are happy with your new bike.....wishing you many,  many happy miles and great big smiles

Yes, more and more manufacturers are now introducing TFT screens, it seems to be the way forward possibly? My K1600 still has the traditional dials and in some respects they look dated, but I won't lose any sleep over it.  :mfr_lol:
