I purchased a set of pillion foot peg extenders from Projekt D (based in Taiwan). Their website says these are for all GTR models up to 2019. However this is not the case, as Projekt D do not realise that the exhaust on the GTR changed with the 2011 models and the extender fouls the exhaust cowl.
When I sent Projekt D the pictures they just responded by sending me the fitting instruction, lol. After a few more e-mail exchanges they agreed for me to return the product, but I had to forfeit my original postage, pay a restocking 25% fee plus I would have to pay the return postage..!!! .. hmmmmm. I put this in the hands of PayPay who to be fair sorted this out and I would receive a full refund, however I would still have to pay the return postage.
After fitting a Scorpion exhaust, the clearance was better but the extender was still fouling the exhaust can retaining spring, a hacksaw and file sorted out the issue. However a disappointing response from Projeckt D. So my advice is look elsewhere if you have a later model GTR and in the market for extenders. I hope my bad experience helps someone out.
Thats interesting because my project d pillion foot peg extenders fitted my 2011 and 2015 model perfectly. Perhaps a bad batch.
Loving the pin sharp photos.
A picture is worth a thousand words :punk:
That is interesting, I wonder if they sent me the wrong part of as you say it was a bad batch. Or is there a change in the 2016 exhaust?
I also fitted the "Projekt D" footrest lowering kit to my (late) 2011 GTR and, whilst the clearance was not great, there was no conflict between them and the exhaust, though I do remember filing the edge of the bracket slightly to improve matters. I subsequently sold them (after changing the bike) to someone who again, I believe fitted them to a post 2011 model without difficulty.
Perhaps, as suggested earlier, your set was produced out of tolerance?
Incidentally, mine were ordered from (and came from) a U.S. web site address. Have they moved the country of manufacture, or could yours perhaps not be the originals?
No idea regarding the production country etc and you may have a point there, or even knock-off's but it did come from their website. My advice to any potential new purchases would be to avoid Projekt D and buy the competitors product (see below at the 1.30 minute mark).

I have used a number of different ProjektD components on my GTRs and never had any issues, in fact all items have been superb
I agree that the different supply base may have been something to do with the quality of your items.... still odd though
i have MFW (GERMANY) rear vario pegs on mine and fantastic and don't touch the exhaust adjustable in height and angle
