Hi folks in desperate need of advice from anyone experiencing similar.
I am in Spain touring at moment, yesterday midway thru the day and after a fest break I got a kTRC error, an abs error and a low battery warning on start up. Turned off and on and all returned to normal.
This morning I turned ignition on and on starting I got just the low battery warning, showing 12.1 v. Then after stopping late in the day and filling I got all three warnings again, but all went out when turning off and on.
Just got to hotel, battery showing 11.9v, 10 mins later showing 12.3v. Watching the charge rate thru the day it was runnng mainly between 13.8 and 14.1v
Am now thinking of cutting short the holiday and running for home as i am not too sure what sort of service I am likely to get over here if I need it.
Anyone had anything similar, tried searching but internet too slow, any help appreciated.
How old is the battery , I would take off the battery and have it checked out should not be to hard to get another battery sorted ,,
I certainly wouldn't be binning the tour for that, find a bike shop, get a new battery and then reassess things if there's no improvement.
Battery is 2.5 years old and is always on an optimate when not in use. Just returned to the bike and it's gone from 12.3 to 12.4v ! Not sure what is going on.
What condition is the regulator / rectifier in?
It's a 2017 model, not an experienced mechanic so would know the answer to that.
Battery connections are known to come lose ,i have to nip mine up ever 2 months or so ,when i bought mine brand new about 2 weeks in and broke down ,lose battery
Would have been nice if the toolkit had an Alen key that fitted the plate covering the battery ffs, I was gonna bring more tools but the missus insisted on the kitchen sink.
If it's a 2017 model, the regulator should be fine.
I'd be tempted to drop it in at a Kawasaki dealer or any bike shop.....hows your Spanish? :whistling:

Agreed, this is a fairly common occurence, check your terminal connections first
Thanks all, without full toolkit got to positive terminal and I presume earth, both needed half a turn, will see what happens, just checked it again, currently 12.3v and fired up fine.
Hopefully it was literally something as simple as that. I'm not sure why the connections would work loose though, I've never experienced that.
Vibration loisens them. They need a spring washer.
I smeared mine in copper grease and the don't seem come loose any more.
That's a useful tip, I'll have to remember that.
Like others here have said, I'd suspect the battery. Either a bad connection or a bad battery. Last year I stopped for 10 mins to collect something at a shop up a country road in the middle of nowhere. When I came out the bike (my other bike, a Blackbird) was totally dead. Nothing at all (not even faint ignition light), when I turned they key on. There had been no prior warning at all.
Luckily, the shop in question was Crossans motorcycles near Newry, NI. They had a new battery which came partly charged. Bought, fitted and fired up first go.
