Well we can't buy new GTR's in UK anymore so I was wondering what the FJR 1300 was like. Anybody know?
I have always thought that they are agood looking bike, however I've never ridden one..
A pal of mine is a blood biker and rides both GTR and FJR from time to time, he reckons its a lovely bike
Pete, There are 3 models available these days... maybe try one and let us know what you think

I actually think they are better looking than GTR. Will try one when I get a chance.
A while back when I was checking them out I discovered yammy don't sell one with top box and panniers . For some reason they don't do or like both being on the bike . The standard bike top plate doesn't take a box just looks pretty. I don't know the reason why whether it's to do with the handling.
I'm riding a year old FJR on our blood bike fleet. They are tested/certified to carry two square blood/milk boxes for and aft on a specially designed rack as well as the factory panniers, so not sure what the problem is with panniers and a factory top box.
IMO the FJR feels lighter on the road, but on a par with the GTR when wheeling them about on a road or driveway.
Plus side is the FJR has cruise control for those who want it, and IMO the screen is quieter than a GTR, but that is a very subjective thing.

Yeah, I'd heard that before as well. It does seem a bit daft because with a touring bike you would want to maximise your luggage capacity.

The AE & AR model FJRs have panniers fitted
Givi can provide a plate in order to fit a top box
I have a few friends with FJR's, and understand that the earlier versions should not be fitted with both a top box and panniers due, I was told to the rear sub - frame not having been designed for the loads.
Later models do, however seem to be approved to take a full set of luggage, and my friends rate the bike very highly. I'm not sure of the model change point, although I have been told that it also coincided with the introduction of the six - speed gearbox.
I don't know anyone who has the automatic transmission variant, so have no information on that.

Thanks for that flatfour it may well have been the earlier model. I haven't looked since I joined the GTR Brigade :mfr_lol:

Not me. Thought they've always been fugly. Same with the BMWs and Honda's. Which is why I went with the C14/GTR in 2008.
