Title: Ride to millau viaduct
Post by: nightrider on July 02, 2019, 07:49:32 PM
Just come back from a  2000mile 6 day ride to millau in the south of France .went over  on the tunnel having booked only one way first stop Troyes  which is a very nice place , then on to Vichy which was ok the ride was on d roads from Troyes as the weather was getting hotter and hotter, from Vichy I went to florac then on to millau which is a nice town the ride intimacy millau it touched 42 degrees or 108 f should Have stayed and done more loops round but just to hot but the roads up there are unbelievable for riding quality the views and villages are fantastic .no traffic the roads are empty the d920 is the best road I've ever ridden and I've done a few , from millau I came back by d roads all the way to Amiens a lot more plain scenery than the south  got the ferry back just book it the night before no need to book return just do it when your ready to come back , the hotels are crap and expensive so is the food . petrol is 155-165 a litre ,but to ride the roads around the tarn gorge it was all worth it , took all vented riding gear so I survived the heat , just follow the d920 you cannot go wrong ,, like to say I went on gtr but did it on my Ktm 1050 .

Sounds like a decent journey despite the excessive heat, 42 degrees would have destroyed me! One day perhaps I shall venture overseas on a bike to soak up the international riding experience but currently the Mrs won't let me.  :mfr_lol:

Did you get any photos taken?

Wowo... yes in those xtreme hot days they even gave warnings on the signs on the road... guess you have another reason why your rubber 'melted' now😛
Good you find nice roads cause only when riding in no busy roads you catch some wind...
Respect bro👍🏼
