Title: North Wales rideout
Post by: 2kwacks on June 29, 2019, 06:56:44 PM
Enjoyed a nice ride out today :biker3: with Steve on his very nice gs adventure r1200gs rally to betsycoed  via stop off at Lyn ravens cafe at whichurch. Very pleasant day but was dam hot wished I put my summer textiles on.. but still better than raining. can't add any pics because forgot to take any :hammer: but in our defence we did have a lot to catch up with as the last time we went for ride out we both had gtr1400's and met at the gtr1400 meet at the lower lode inn.. hopefully Steve took a few pics when I wasn't looking. All in all.. excellent rideout

Dave I thought you were taking the photos, I did take the camera but never used it.  It was as you say too damn hot, it peaked albeit very briefly at 30 degrees but stayed pretty constant at 28 ish all day long. Three hundred miles door to door and one of the few times I've visited Wales and it hasn't pissed it down!  :mfr_lol:

In my defence I read it quickly at work on my short break  p.s. ( in my head I was trying to recall if I had met 2 kwaks in the past 😂) glad you had a nice safe ride out

Similarly, I read it after riding 350 miles home from Scotland and quite late in the evening. Having not visited the Forum for the week that we were away, I quickly scanned a lot of messages!

You are also forgiven of course, how was Scotland, whereabouts did you get to?

Scotland, like Wales has become one of our annual trips, Steve. This time me, my wife (pillion to me, BMW K1300GT) daughter (Honda NC700X) and a friend (Kawasaki Z900RS) set off on the 22nd (Saturday) for the cottage at Ashkirk that we usually rent. My brother (Triumph Street Scrambler) then rode down from his house at Dornoch to join us. A good journey, around 6.5 riding hours.

We had the usual runs out, to Moffat/Beef Tubs, Kelso, Jedburgh etc. and also caught the bus to Edinburgh for a day to walk around without riding gear.

With the exception of Monday, the weather was fine, and often too hot for comfort. The journey home though, was not pleasant at all, due to heavy traffic queues along the route. In all it took us over eight hours to cover 330 miles. Often temperatures were in the high 20's, which did not help at all. The bikes performed faultlessly though (even the BMW, for those who doubt such things!).

Glad you enjoyed your day though

To be fair it was an extremely last minute decision to go, I only messaged Dave the evening before the ride and he only confirmed the meet up the following morning. We like to live life on the edge!  :mfr_lol:
