Title: tyres
Post by: tapps on June 17, 2019, 10:23:52 AM
i ordered a pair of ANGEL GT's for my gtr, took the bike in to have them fitted, after a long time waiting i was told there's a problem, the front tyre is on ok, the rear is the wrong size,as a compromise i was offered a pair of METZELER roadtec 01's at the same price as the angel it's,which i accepted,i've done 100 mile's on them scrubbing them in, having a closer look at the tyre's i cant see the HWM (heavy weight motorcycle) markings on either the front or the rear sidewall's,i've looked on the metzeler web site trying to see what the tyre marking's should look like, have they fitted standard roadtec 01's,if they have they are not suiteable for such a heavy bike like the GTR is & they will not cover many mile's, i will end up taking the bike back to ask them which version of tyre they have fitted & go from there.

The Metzeler site shows this so you should be ok

https://www.metzeler.com/en-uk/products/tyres?brand-select=kawasaki&model-select=1400-gtr-my-2010-2014-2010-2014

FWIW I have opted for Metzeler Roadtec 01s on my previous Versys 1000 and they are an exceptional tyre, but obviously the Versys is a ligher bike than the GTR

Yeah, but just because you can put them on the GTR doesn't mean to say they are the heavyweight variant. I'd pop back if it's easy to do and speak to the fitters and ask for clarification on which type they've fitted.
