Hi all,
Just joined up today, just bought my first touring bike, will be collecting a mint, well I think so, 2007 GTR1400 ABS (17,500 miles) in a few days. My wife decided she wanted to get back on the pillion after having our 2 boys 30 years ago. She refuses to get on my TL1000R pride and joy. I had a look about, not knowing anything of touring bikes, the 1400 just looked the perfect bike. My brother lives in southern France we normally drive down, the next trip, this August, is on the 1400.
Anyway that is enough chatter, just thought I'd say hello.
Welcome on board. A perfect bike for continental touring
Cheers Burchy

Welcome, good choice for continental touring, you've got speed, comfort, decent luggage space and fairly reasonable handling capability in the GTR, enjoy the bike. Loads of great info on the forum. The crack isn't too bad either. :cheesy:
Thanks Robbieben, I'll no doubt be delving into the info
Cheers
Hello Bluesman from Bristol. I circumnavigated France last August on the GTR with family on their bikes, my daughter with me - it was fabulous.
Hello Brizzlerob from North Wales. I'm looking forward to our France trip, I've not done a euro trip for a few years now, can't stay folded up on a sports bike like I used to!
This bike should open up a whole new biking life.

Welcome aboard from a member with the same year and model. Bought Oct 18. Can't wait for better weather to put a few miles on it but loving it so far.
I'm fairly sure you won't be disappointed with it.

Like 👍 what did you use to post the pictures.
Hi Pross,
All I did was click on the Attachments button at the bottom of the Reply screen, then select the two pictures from my hard drive. Does that not normally work?

Hi all,
Back from our France trip to my brothers, really pleased with the 1400. Very comfortable no trouble doing the 200 miles between fuel stops, handled really well when fully loaded, engine was sublime, we had horrendous rain nearly all the way home from Folkestone she never faulted. Returned 51mpg over the whole journey, I think that is bloody good as it's a lot of motorway travel ..... including a speeding fine in France!!........... the letter arrived a few days after we got home.
Any of you thinking of a European trip DO IT! the bike is perfect.
So glad to hear you had a great time .. never mind about the speeding ticket ! There is a lot of space out there to ride and its generally warmer than back here in Blighty
Spain Portugal and then a few days in Luxembourg were on my menu this year .. and none of it disappointed !
Cheers Rusty
couple of snaps
Nice looking bike. You can't beat touring in Europe. States is good too.
Just come back from a weeks cruising ( on a boat ! :whistling: ) to Norway ... utterly stunning scenery in the Fjords etc .... I may have to do a thread on it just to bore you with the photos .. anyway the point is leading on from the last remarks ... not done any touring in the US although one imagines it would be amazing too and there is a works trip planned to Nordkapp in a couple of years .. that WILL be a trip and a half
Please do put your photos on, they looked impressive. Remember, Smugmug is your friend and makes hosting photos so easy.
Roger that Red Leader.
