Title: our bikes future value
Post by: aljaxon on April 13, 2019, 10:33:48 PM
is the gtr gonna become sought after and keep its price? or drop like a stone discontinued/dinosaur/yesterdays chip paper?
I asked for a px value today on my 2010 caf candy Neptune blue 14800 miles, vgc and was told £5800
but that's by a local dealer who is know to offer much more in px because their bikes for sale are overpriced

otherwise i'd have snapped his hand off.

so do we think the gtr1400 is gonna become a sought after classic?

drop like a stone , low. Mileage ones will always sell well  it will keep on dropping down to £3000 mine has 32000 on and was offered 4650 in part ex once it gets past 50000 miles it will be worthless ,but after a blast today I'm keeping it ,  :biker3:

I doubt the GTR 1400 will become a classic for a few years yet, the definition 'classic' generally applies to bikes over 25 - 30 years old

GTR value will fall and be dependant upon age, mileage and condition, there will always be a market for bikes such as the GTR, as there is for Pan European and FJR etc.,

Every dealer will value your bike as a reflection of how they see it, or if they think it is saleable, dealers are in business to make profit and cover their overheads after all, so you need to shop around as each dealer will have different levels of profit margins in any bike that you may be considering buying as a replacement for your own bike

The previous generation GTR (aka C10) has not become iconic to any but the riders that own them.  I still have to explain what the latest generation GTR (aka C14) is to other riders as they've never heard of it.  So in answer to the question of value...lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut.  However, I didn't purchase either generation for resale.  When I sold them I got what I could and went on.  If you are purchasing for resale..not owning them more than several years then you are buying the wrong bike.

It's just another bike at the end of the day. A very good bike but I don't see it ever achieving iconic status.

I bought it 6 years ago without a care what value it would be at when I sold it.

I have a couple of  classic 1970's 2 strokes but im not prepared to wait another 45 years before selling my gtr...
