Is there anywhere where it is not raining this weekend? I had hoped to get out tomorrow but the only place which loooks like its going to be warm and sunny is Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, 45 degrees C apparantly.
Has anyone got any rides planned for this weekend?
Raining all week apparently. Summers been and gone
26 degrees and sunny for tomorrow here in Germany

Yeah, thanks for that. ;D
The rains started early, its peeing down outside..
Looks like it'll only be showers on Sunday though (he said hopefully). Anyway, it's only water!
Kevin
surely a drop of the wet stuff doesnt stop you from getting out?
Yeah that's the thing though, it's not just a drop.
No its several drops :D
It's England it rains a lot, we have bikes that keep us warm and dry (with the help of the right kit) and the challenge of trying to stay upright is one of the many challenges of motorcycling. There will still be lots of fantastic vistas, and the feeling of being out in the fresh air, turn the wick down slightly and enjoy. cheers Geoff. If its any good to you Mr Wolf I am meeting some mates tomorrow up at "The bridge" Kirby lonsdale 10 bells, dont know where we will be off to after meeting but I'm sure something good will be in the offing. ;D

[looks out of window at horizontal rain] Nah, I don't fancy it either! Hopefully tomorrow. :)

Went out yesterday ;D waved wife and son off on camping holiday and settled down to watch Le Tour/Moto GP and BSB ...nice!

Roughly what time are you meeting at the bridge?

No later than 10 oclock----------- Ya avin it? ;D
Yeah, why not?
Providing the forecast is reasonable. I dont mind a bit of rain but I draw the line at floods. I'll come and say hi and see where you are planning to go. The forecast out towards Kendal, Ambleside is looking good for tomorrow, so I might head out that way but I'm always open to suggestions. ;D
its been dry here in West Wales and did manage to get out for 2 hours on the GTR for a couple of hours, though it was a bit windy but as per usual the GTR took all thrown at it in its stride :)
Managed an hour this morning with my new Calsci screen fitted, what a difference it's made, this is how Kawasaki should have released it (for me anyway). Non stop rain, thunder & lightning since, our road looks like a stream at the moment.

Ok Steve hope to see you at the bridge regards The man from atlantis ::)
200+ motorway miles in constant heavy rain yesterday....not my most memorable ride...the irony of it was, I was on my way to buy some new waterproofs as my old kit had after 3 years... 'gone all absorbent' .... I'll be trying the new kit today.....dark clouds gathering outside my window as we speak ;D
I braved the rain and met up with The Silver Fox, sorry I mean 100milesaway, aka Geoff at Kirby Lonsdale this morning. We both commented that neither of us had ever seen so few bikes at this popular location on a Sunday. Normally the place would be carpeted with wall to wall biker.
First time I've ever seen a green one in the flesh.

I could relate to the accessory on a day such as today!
NB, would have liked this one. ;)
Gradually a few more bikes arrived.
And finally just before I left after my hot chocolate and bacon & sausage sandwich had settled, the place started to get busy.

Its a shame the rain didn't hold off but it was still nice to meet up with a fellow GTR owner. Many thanks for the invite and I'll look out for you at 'The Bridge' in the future. It'd be great too if you could make the trip to Wales next month with your good lady, Lynn. ;D
was out most of the day in the rain and loved it.

What a strange chap you are ;D ;D
I think I am going to word this as "I went out for the day on a 300 mile trip exploring the Brecon Beacons and I thoroughly enjoyed it although it did rain during the day" ::) ;)

Took 90 mins to commute to work in the heavy rain. All of it filtering. Gear is still drying out
I have a 'contingency plan' for Betws y Coed..............if the rain keeps falling i'll be booking an hotel room ;D

Did you get delayed because of the GS4 wagon having an unscheduled stop just outside Manchester?

Dunno. Was filtering from the moment I joined the m62.
Trying to explain to the people at work that I was probably warmer than they were in their cars
there is also the estate car option as well............. ;D
seriously though I plan on getting there on the bike, if it looks like its going to be wet it may be me on my own swmbo not enthusiastic about camping in the rain :D
Gotta say my nearly new Knox gloves which were meant to be waterproof leaked like a collander in the rain on saturday....i emailed Knox this morning and within 30 minutes they had offered to exchange them free of charge and were very apologetic
Now i know that nothing is 100% waterproof, especially when it is being blasted into you at motorway speeds....but you expect whatever youre wearing to resist water ingress for a ceratin period
I'd agree. I don't mind a bit of dampness, but hate any water getting in.
Come on Harry ... I bang on about it enough .... Horrendous rain for about 3 hours in France .... Rukka gloves ... my hands were bone dry I kid you not. Get your £ back from Knox and put it towards a pair of Rukka's .. Take a deep breath when you put the PIN number in and you will always wonder why you waited so long ;D
Looking to get some good winter gloves that actually keep my hands dry so would be interested in which rukka gloves you got LR
Well just come back in the monsoon and my Held X-trafit gore-tex gloves kept me dry as usual, but I am bloody bored with this weather now. Even considered putting the liner back in my jacket :o
Fred ... they are "Rukka Apollo" ... in white, strange but true ... Google them or go to a shop I use in London called " Infinity Motorcycles " .. their shop just south of Regents Park just does kit and no bikes ... £160 but worth every penny. By the time you have bought 2 or 3 pairs of gloves that are supposed to keep you dry you could have spent your money on this decent stuff. I know the initial price is " F@"+ me ! " but really ... just take the plunge and get some .... they also do a black pair for winter, a bit cheaper for some reason called Rukka Mars .. I think just a bit more padded ... perhaps the white leather is more expensive ;D
Thanks for that LR - it was the Apollo that had taken my fancy but its always nice to get first hand veiws before taking the plunge. Price wise thay are about the same as my summer gloves so not a problem although it will definitely be the black ones. Not sure about the 200ml trek to regents street though.
Nice pickies Mr Wolf, and a pleasure meeting you, shame we couldn't pick some nicer weather :o a bit moist to say the least, only stayed about an hour after you departed then went home the long way round, and low and behold when I got to Hawes it was as dry as a bone, strange or what? Anyway I was glad to be out and in good company, thanks again for the "Buttie and brew" my turn next time we meet. ;D
Hey Fred ... on a Gtr the 200 mile trek would be a doddle ;D
On a serious note, ( and I know it's hard to be serious here ) if you REALLY wanted a pair let me know and I am sure I could get you a black pair with a bit of discount chucked in for good measure ... I get about 10/15 % when the boss is there ....

Thanks for the offer but when it comes to buying clothes I like to try them on in the shop before buying.
FYI Infinity have an online shop...i have used the gaff in Hanger Lane on occasion.....it saves me having to go all the way into central London (which is the devils work) ::)
Hmm, interesting stuff this Rukka. If it was down to me and me alone I'd have no hestitation in buying this gear but SWMBO would crucify me if I even considered spending that much money on bike clothes.
Unless anyone knows of another (Northern) Rukka stockist this is the only one I have found so far.

LW, my next gear may well be rukka. At the moment the hein gericke gear works fine, but I've had one too many issues with the zips.
If you intend to keep the gear long term then its not false economy

Theres a Suzuki main dealer in Crewe thats also a rukka stockist - not sure if that is classed as northern though
Been to the place in darwen and its an aladdins cave off bike gear well worth a visit if you are in the market for clothing - they wear discounting Rukka gear when I was looking for waterproofs but went with harlvarsons as it fitted me better.
I just checked and the top of the range Rukka gear is priced at £999. The same garment is priced at €899 in Germany. I can claim the 19% VAT back, and converted to £ it come to approx £670 delivered.
Thats a huge saving, is that for the Arma-S jacket?
Flippin heck...1k for a jacket.....thats some going, i know in this economy you get what you pay for...but.....that is very steep. Just Bought some Halvarssons kit, haven't had time to check in all conditions.....but looks very well made, and not cheap either :-[ .... the missus wasn't impressed when she saw the bill!!
that being said £670.00 for a top of the Range Rukka...bargaaaaiiinnn!
has any-one else come across this new C-Change fabric for bikers kit .......apparently the pores in the jacket contract and expand depending on temperature and its supposed to keep you at the right temp in all conditions...also the waterproof layer is bonded to the outside of the material, so water just beads up and rolls off, and never permeates the inner layer. In theory it sounds great, but i have been caught out before buying 'the next big think' ;D

On Sunday I say a Touratech jacket for just under £1,200 :o :oand the trousers where just under £800 :o, so basically not much change from £2,000 :o :o :o :o

Oh ..... that link is beautiful ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm liking this Armas jacket more and more. Might go an try one on to see what it feels like
I've also hear that with biker land you can haggle on the price :)
Here's a review on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un_CcHR18a4&feature=player_embedded
Nice bit of video .... the chap in the shop told me about the " cool " layer that reflects 70% of the UV sunlight, as I asked him how hot it would be in the summer.
He simply said that if you were a UV light wave it would be like painting your jacket with White gloss ... ie it would be very bright and so keep you a lot cooler.... if that makes sense and I have worded it right ;D
I'm going to order this week. Just not sure on the size.
A size 52 is perfect fit, but the sleeves will move back when teaching for the bars. No such issue with the 54 but it is more bulkier
NB ... if you can get to a Rukka dealer on the Gtr then you could try it all out and be absolutely sure everything is the right fit before you ride away.
ps ... good choice ... obviously ;D
£2000 for a jacket and trousers? Does it have a hole in the trousers to make it easy for the manufacturers to shaft you?
I spent £200 on my jacket and £100 on the trousers.
Much more than that and I start laughing at people.
Friend has a Dainese Air-bag suit.
No idea how much it cost but he has already paid to have it reset once when it triggered after he forgot and wore it on a trampoline. <LOL>
If I were a rich man,.... I'd probably get an AeroStich suit, and fly to Duluth, Minnesota to have it custom fitted.

And then put up with the wet crotch they are renowned for within the LDR community? (although to be fair I hear the very latest model is better).
I normally throw a cheap 2-piece over-suit over whatever I'm wearing as that ensures I'm both dry and warm but I often get caught in a drizzle that's not worth stopping for that turns into torrential rain. I'm not sure why I'm praising Rev'It under the circumstances but I've been out in the GTX Defender suit in some pretty appalling weather and, apart from the pocket, it hasn't leaked at all.
Kevin
Nothing wrong with a damp crotch. :P
I have an oversuit that I put on if it's torrential rain.
Otherwise, I just get wet.
So long as it's not too cold I don't really care.
I've spent a few uncomfortable mornings at work in soggy scundies but it hasn't killed me yet.
I guess all those years of riding in DM's, camo trousers, and any jacket that fitted have toughened me up. ;)
