Well bikes a year old 1 march so up for a service ,what do people pay for this ,anyone in the midlands recommend a good place
What's your mileage?
With shame only 2000 miles but i do have other toys to use lol
If i remember rightly around £200
Do it yourself, easy enough that's for sure. I used to change oil, oil filter, diff oil, air filter every 4K no matter what, dead simple. I ended up with two washable air filters (name escapes me) and swopped them over each time. Don't overfill the diff.
Less than a hour and you know it been done correct, even removing the diff and lubricating the drive shaft is easy enough.
If you do decide to do it yourself, speak to your dealer first about your warranty. As a minimum you will have to buy genuine Kawasaki parts.
Doing the work myself is easy but i understood it had to be serviced by a vat registered company to keep your warranty ,cradley kaw are very expensive compared to other dealers and as you said its just oil and filter 20 minute job ,
Turn up with your own oil, keeps the price down a bit.
You won't need the warranty it's a Kawasaki gtr ,not a bmw :mfr_lol:
I never said that!!
I always used original Kawasaki parts apart from the K&N air filter, decent oil etc, kept the receipts just in case, never needed the warranty and my dealer was happy as I spoke to them regular and they knew I was doing it.
I guess you could get the dealer to do this one if nothing else to get the stamp n the book.
Using genuine parts and having work completed by "competent " person will maintain your warranty

I used Taylor Brothers Motors (Julian Taylor) in Stafford for my last service and PR4 rear tyre. The service included valve checks and a few bits and pieces over and above what Kawasaki recommended such as brake fluid change and caliper clean up. Very friendly, very helpful ex Kawasaki trained technician, recommended to me by Blood Bikes as they have their fleet serviced there. He even gave me a full verbal report and explanation of what he had done and what to expect in the coming months.
I left the bike with him for 3 days as it was January and I didn't need to use it. Final bill was £520 with which I was happy and will be going back for the next service later this year.
Just had small service and MOT £218

The law has changed regarding the maintenance of vehicles, a manufacturer or dealer can't void your warranty if you use genuine parts and recommended quality lubricants. Fill your book in with all details of oil used etc and sign it yourself.
Do it yourself get receipts and keep them in your folder. £8.45 for a genuine Kawa filter and oil between £30 and £50 dependant on whose you use. Diff/final drive oil is a GL5 grade, I use 75W 90 fully synthetic GL5 oil £12.50 for a litre and will last you a few changes, though on the first change I'd recommend draining old oil, refilling with new and running on centre stand in 2nd gear for a few minutes to flush out everything, drain again and refill with your new oil. I had my OE oil tested as it looked terrible, it was out of grade after 4200 miles and was only low quality mineral oil, manufacturers know it will last long enough to the first service and they let you pay for the expensive GL5 Synthetic oil from the dealer, same reason we need a 600 mile first service, the engine oil is low quality mineral oil, again they know it will make the 600 miles, their byeword is "It's running in oil". No it's cheap oil.
You'll save yourself £100 + for about an hours work.

Wile the law changed how cars and vans were dealt with under warranty, the new laws did not cover motorcycles. unless things have changed since I left the motor trade. Motor cycle manufacturers can still void a warranty and reject a claim if repairs and servicing were not completed by a franchised dealer. Things may have changed recently but I recommend that people check for certain before doing their own work during warranty time. Best to check rather than face the fight later.
As far as I am aware even going back a number of years you could take your Kawasaki for example to a non Kwak dealer for a service and still get the book stamped without it jeapordising your FSH claim.
Mine is always serviced by a non Kwaik dealer because I know and trust the guys.

A BMW dealer?
Took mine to triumph at York and asked what they would give me in part ex against a new speed twin in standard trim with 31000m on it's a 2010 ,it has no service history after 8000m they said £4650 ,with fsh it would have been £5000 ,so that tells you what fsh is worth , after a good 200m blast have now decided I still love it and will be keeping it,
Fair point, but a FSH isn't the only factor a dealer will use to arrive at a P/X valuation
The problem with the Gtr is that one looks at other bikes, tries them and realise how good GtR is.
