Planning next years September trip.
Has anyone recommendations for accommodation - places not to bother with in Italy. 6 bikes - 6 riders heading;- Portsmouth - Caen - Limoges. Across to Genoa, down the med coast to Rome area, across Italy to Bari for ferry to Dubrovnik, up Bosnia - Croatian coast etc.. to Innsbruck motorail train to Dusseldorf - Dunkirk ferry.
Air Con and secure parking essential, trying to keep to an average of £80 per night per room.
I've worked in Italy (pre EU), but never holiday'd. I always felt lucky to get away with all my gear intact when I've come home.
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Nitty Gritty

(Edit - sorry, link did not work well, it is the Le Bellerive)
Good location, nice rooms, English owners and used to groups of bikers as you will see from their photos.
I've never done your exact route but crossed it in a couple of places on my own travels, I'll let you know if I think of anywhere else.
Pete.
Spot on, just what I'm looking for. Cheers Pete
If you're heading to Limoges I'd recommend that you make Oradour-sur-Glane a stop off en route, very thought provoking and well worth a visit.
Sounds great Nitty ... not done any part of that on a bike .. Rome Bosnia etc but of course now it is becoming very popular .. keep us updated !
All overnight stops accounted for. Entourage now grown to 10 bikes. Thinking of organising a meet before the trip to see what's coming.
Oradour is on the list, visiting on the way through 1st day.
Gouffre du Padriac 1st stop next morning. Going to plan the rest over the winter, now hotels all sorted I can plan the routes.
Itinery:- Caen (FR), Peyrat le Chateau (FR), Loriol Le Pouzin (FR), Varazze (IT), 2 x nights Volterra (IT), 2 x nights Fiuggi (IT), overnight Ferry Bari - Dubrovnik (HR), Dubrovnik (HR), Starigrad- Paklenica (HR), Kranjska-Gora (SL), Kappl (AT), Saint Dei (FR), Tunnel (FR).
On the insurance side - two years ago to get a green card for Bosnia I'd used Carol Nash with Ageas insur. £280 incl. green card. Had a quote from same today £575 + green card £33 + £12 arrangement fee. :nono: I settled for renewal quote from Hasting Direct with AXA £251 fully comp and all the trimings + pay £30 at the border for cover in Bosnia.
Ferries and Train - £310, Hotels - £955, Fuel - 500, Tolls - £35, All in £1830 + meals + sauce. 14 nights due to size of group, would be 12/13 on own or good small group.
Hotels all booked, group grown to 12 bikes, 12 riders.
Looking better every time you put a post on !!!!
