Seems like another way of extracting cash from visitors
Crit'Air certificate is required for vehicles travelling in/around France
Maybe a good idea to check it out if you are planning to visit/tour France
I filled in the form got one for when I passed through Grenoble last year was only £4 , better to be safe than sorry , it would only matter if you got stopped
Only required in certain areas of France at the mo.
There is an App called "Green-Zones" which can be downloaded to a smart phone etc. The app tells you what if anything is required and what classes of vehicle are and are not allowed.
Every year it's something new required for driving in France.
Bunch of effing jobsworth bureaucrats.
Next year you'll have to declare the anal diameter and arse gas emissions for each occupant of the vehicle, sorted by acridity of odour. :gun_bandana: :2guns: :asshole:
It seems that this 'requirement' is for major conurbations, which makes it more understandable...well maybe

A few weeks ago we went to the Millau Bridge from Calais, then on to the Italian Lakes via San Remo and home through the Mont Blanc Pass/Dijon/Calais. None of this route required the Crit Air Certificate, however I understand that Grenoble (and its bypass), Lyon, Paris and probably other major conurbations do.
I last went to France in October 2017 and was astonished at the police presence this time around. We were stopped twice for what was said (when I asked) to be a routine police check. Following a thorough examination of documents for both us and the car, we were sent on both times without further comment. This is something that I was warned about before the trip by a friend who travels to France once or twice every month through work, he said that this years situation is quite different to any other year that he has known.
Finally, on the return journey I was my usual two hours early at the Tunnel. This normally results in being loaded onto the next train. However on this occasion, we were told that we could either pay 90 Euros to travel immediately, or travel 30 minutes ahead of our booked time on our existing ticket. Looking at the queues for Immigration/Customs, this what we decided to do.
All in all a good trip, however things do seem to be changing over there!
Got one last year, couple of €uro, one less thing to worry about, nothing to get stressed about.
:agree:
