Is there an easy way to find out if a GTR is the mark 1 (up 2010) or mark 2 (after 2010)
I know there are some of the earlier model with 2010/2011 year related plates.
The newer model has the additional switchgear for traction control and heated grips amongst other improvements.
Easiest walk by recognition is Series 1 has the storage compartment forward of the tank filler. The Series 2 has the storage compartment in the left hand fairing.
There are others, like shape of fairings, position of mirrors, but the storage compartment is easiest.
I think gs 2 has more power but might be wrong.
I normally differentiate between the models just by looking at the belly pan. Mk1 models extend well to the front, whereas the Mk2 ones are more steeply angled, right down to a point

The flukes in fairing sides are quite different.
Thank you, there are some really useful tips.
Do you think it would be worthwhile going for the mk2 over the mk1?

Yes, I do
Yes absolutely if your budget allows it.
MK2 is better in nearly all aspects.
The only -ve for me is the linked brakes.
I personally dislike them intensely.

George I am sure you can alter the percentage of the mixture of front and back .
But I don't mess with the settings I'm sure kawasaki know better than me :mfr_lol:
The Gen 2's look "dumpier" at the front IMHO
