There's been some behind the scenes discussion in the last couple of weeks regarding a 2018 GTR meet. Normally these things are planned well in advance but not this year for various reasons. Any bike welcome of course., especially BMW's  as Pete likes to reminisce.
As always a very informal affair, the venue will be the same as last years to keep things cheap and practical, http://www.thebelfryhotel.co.uk (http://www.thebelfryhotel.co.uk)
The date is the 10th August (Friday) & 11th August 2018 departing on the Sunday. No obligation to stay both nights, we know people have families, work and other commitments. Stay one night if that's preferable or just pop in to say hello.
This meet up is definitely going ahead so if you would like to meet some of the gang and see what we all look like in the flesh 😩 please drop in and say hi or better still book a room. The rooms are only about £35 per night, they are clean, they have WiFi, (allegedly)😁 and that price includes breakfast. 😳
Looking forward to seeing everyone again. 👍

Attendees so far.
Boomer, John, Rynglieder, Colin, Stoketim, Longtom, Icefever, Nitty Gritty, Nigel, Charlie, Pete, Viper & Wingman, Big Al, Lloyd, Asif, Me, Pete and possibly Pross.
Some are staying one night, some two, some are dropping in daily as they live locally etc.
I'm interested but particularly in the BMW element!! It is always amusing to compare their poor quality with the excellent quality of the Kawasaki marque!!
I have just marked it off on the holiday router calendar
Very interested.
Unsure at the moment if it will be one night or two awaiting to find out what duties I have The Sunday.
I would be interested in that, I live not far away from there and wouldn't be staying over, but would love to come along and join-in otherwise.
Yeah, interested - those dates would work for me, but let's see what you settle on and take it from there.
Count me in. I need an excuse for a decent ride.
Count me in Steve ... the diary is empty so it can be 2 nights for me  A great opportunity to catch up and meet new faces etc ... oh and of course eat and drink and a bit of riding !!!!
I will ride along on the Saturday morning but alas it will be on my Multistrada, like a BMW but better.
Alan
room booked
Ye i could be up for this
We enjoyed last years meet down in the Forest of Dean, so pencil us both in for now. Not sure about staying as yet, the Belfrey is only 50 mins up the road for us, and we're off to Portugal at the end of Aug.
It is nice to stay over night thou just to sit and chew the fat, we will try our hardest. :punk:
I'll attend (particularly as I couldn't make this weekend's Versys meet) - having only arrived home from Italy (a long drive!) last night!
Room booked at the Belfry for both nights.
Good to hear that you are up and about again George
Should make this
Room booked
I've just booked two rooms, one for me and the other for Nigel.

Thank you Steve .... back in Blighty now and if this weather holds for a couple of months it will be a good meet up ! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
As people seem to have started booking rooms I have perhaps rashly jumped to the conclusion this is definitely happening!
I've taken a room for the Friday night* in the hope of enjoying a beer with you and a ride out on the Saturday. Booking the just the Friday night means someone else has the chance of Saturday, I only live about 90 minutes away so it is no big deal for me to commute.
If I find you chaps are decent people of the right social standing and from good families etc. I may be able to travel back down on Sunday morning for a last ride out if that is the plan.
*The booking has been made on the understanding that there will be a smoking area, beer and steak (in that order).
Good stuff Mr Ryng .... I think we are all of a decent calibre and made of the right stuff ... there will be chat and eat and a beer or two and a bit of riding .. its whatever you want to make it really. I think most on here would agree .. turn up say Hello and see how we all get on
I am booked in for just the Sat night but will be there from lunchtime .. or I should say " I shall be there for lunch on Saturday ! " it is a lovely pub in a lovely location .. looking forward to meeting everyone ... this internet business is all very well but face to face in the flesh is best !!!!
Take care everyone
Yes just to clarify and it has been remiss of me not to amend the initial post on this thread, this meet up is definitely going ahead.
I shall revise the first post to clarify this. 🙂

Is it worth putting up a summary of who is attending and staying on which night?
I've no idea if I am going to be on my own on Friday :embarrassed:
Good idea about the list ...any of you Admin chaps create a list that can be added to online ? Is that possible or is it just "Yep .. I,m coming on the 42nd of Jelember for 1 night" ?? :whistling: :whistling:
I'll call around on the Friday afternoon/evening as well as Saturday. I will be staying at my Mother's, in Longhope, just a couple of miles away.
The first post has been amended with those that are going. I've no idea who is staying which night as some have been specific and said Friday, Saturday or both.....others have just said room booked.
Either way theres a good turnout expected and if its still warm we'll have cracked it.

It's just want, want want, never a moments peace to enjoy a gloriously hot day sweating my nads off on the bike.
Leave it with me and I'll sort it out later today. :mfr_lol:

You could always just turn up in the bus and say you took a wrong turning. :whistling:
Although a little cooler it looks as if the weather is still going to be good .... fingers crossed !

I'm not sure how many will be there on the Saturday but certainly the majority are attending Saturday including myself and Asif who runs the forum. We will be well into double figures if that helps. I plan to arrive mid afternoon as its a four hour ride approximately for me.
Anyone else booked in on Friday night, or am I going to have to sit in a corner buying my own beer?
Pete.
I believe Charlie and PRD are both attending on Friday with their partners.
I'll probably call around on Friday evening, I'll be staying with my Mother some six miles away. I'll then be back for the Saturday as well!

yep all ok. Was defo up for it but unfortunately a few things have occurred. May be next year but then may be I will be on a BM......
I will be there friday night aswell as saturday.
I'll be there Friday and Saturday but if Pete's not coming and Charlie not until Saturday, then I guess I'l be riding there by my lonesome.
Never mind, it'll be much quicker that way! :mfr_lol:
I'm a Friday nighter
Looks like the hardcore party will be Friday night then.
The lightweights will arrive on Saturday :mfr_lol:

This General is arriving on Saturday with Steve.
Just got the bike MOT'd, room booked. All that is left is to maybe give the bike a wash tomorrow ...
The road will be ploughed on friday ,so the ladies have a smooth arrival saturday
Ah, those arriving on Saturday might want to check before leaving that the organisation hasn't been barred after they have met those of us who arrived on Friday.
I,m looking forward to it
Five more hours to work.
Apologies to all, I won't now be able to make this weekend. I hope that all goes well and everyone enjoys what is usually a great event!

I think John does, he was possibly reviewing his photos when he had his heart attack. :whistling:
So .. all set and ready to go .. looking to arrive at 4ish but may hoof it up there a bit earlier if I can. Sussex has had some very bad rain today but looking good UK wise tomorrow .. clouds and sun ... maybe a bit of rain Sunday ... fingers crossed everyone and see you soon :001_icon16: :001_icon16:
Was good to see you all again/for the first time.
I got home mostly dry at around 15:00.
Had fun on the A40 again but then did M40/M25 which sucked as usual.
Great to catch up with everyone. Steve and I made it back after a detour to Steve's favourite watering hole
I can only reiterate what George and Asif has said. Almost a perfectly dry journey to The Belfry on the Saturday apart from the last few miles and intermittent showers on the way home on Sunday.
It was a pleasure to do the journey with Asif for some company, I hadn't seen him for probably two years!
It was great to see that lad on his GS from down south, young Nigel, there were two GS's there, not sure who the other one belonged to.
The same goes for John who made his annual trip from Ireland to see us all and everyone else who ventured to The Belfry.
I'm not sure what deterred others from coming, maybe it was because it was spitting and they didn't want to get their bikes wet. :mfr_lol:
Great weekend great company 1 shower on the way and 1 shower comming home excellent.
Oh and yes great to meet everyone new and old .
Good to meet the Friday-nighters.
Thanks for steering us in on our first visit to the Belfry, your company and also for indulging us in a short ride out on Saturday morning.
We had a reasonably dry run back via Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Upton on Severn, The Malverns and Worcester.
Then, inspired by Mr NittyGritty (who managed to dodge my photo), I took the power drill to the GTR and set about fixing the Innovv camera......
Pete.
Thanks for those that organised and attended. Good Company - Good Beer. Perfect weekend.
Well there you are ... it has all been said on here. It was a nice little gathering from all around and of course well done John for coming in from Ireland ... good effort
Good to catch up and chat over a few beers and coffee and breakfast etc. The Belfry is a decent little place and fairly central for these meetings .. clean and tidy nice quiet rooms and good food when you're peckish !
Got back to Sunny Sussex in less than 3 hrs with no real dramas ... even the rain stopped soon after I started heading souffff
Thanks for organising Steve and of course we look forward to next year ... or even a New Year Meet   ( easily suggested as I sit here in vest and shorts with the sun still shining at 8pm ! )
Cheers everyone.
