Title: Lots of issues
Post by: big mike on April 22, 2018, 12:03:24 PM
So finally rode the bike and love it but looking for some answers,
1- Bike is very slow to turn over, almost like it's not going to start but at very last second it fires up. Yesterday after 100 miles stopped bike fir around 20-30 seconds and it wouldn't start, when pushing start button it wiped all data from dashboard.
2- tyre pressure gauges doesn't show anything
3- small whine (like a dry chain) from engine area.
4- screen , please help with the noise/ buffering

Take battery off and get it tested , are the battery leads on tight , or could be a bad earth ,, sounds like battery to me , screens all seem to be noisy on all the bikes I've had it's a lot of trial and error , I went for a small screen so the wind is on my upper chest and not on helmet ,then I put it up if needed using the electric side , done the same on my KTM so the wind is not buffering and flapping around my head .

Battery, it has to be in tip top condition then all will be well, anything other then all sort of mysterious things happen, again as others will say check the Earth lead.

As for noise I am 6' 3" tall and purchased a Laminar Lip and attached it to the top of the screen, for me it was perfect, I wear ear plugs all the time and it was awesome.

Cheers guys,
It's tainted the bike a little which is a shame as it's an awesome piece of kit

TPM indication
Either the batteries in the pressure sensors are so flat they are not working at all, or worst case the sensors are knackered or have been removed, in which case it could get a bit expensive.

Yours is a 2008 Mk1, so yes you can change the TPS batteries yourself with a little bit of ingenuity.  That latest models have a revised sensor that is supposed to last 10 years!

The slight whine you can hear is the rear bevel box.  A normal noise.  Just check the oil level.  Piece of cake to change that oil as well, only wants 150ml of Hypoid 90

Bevel Box is where the rear wheel is driven from
