normal for Britain in warm weather. It will never happen to them...,.,
Sports bike riders are a different biker , lucky if they do a 1000m a year ,never go touring just ride to bike meet and back , I say 25% can ride one the other 75% cannot just look at the chicken strips on the rear tyres ,, biking now seems to being more and more split into different groups of bikers , :biker3:
It was always this way tapps...if some of them had seen, or far worse still experienced, the agony that is apparently associated with skin grafts as a result of accidents through not wearing the correct clothing, then they simply wouldn't behave that way :nono:
In my opinion their is a marked difference between a 'Biker' and a 'motorcyclist'

awwww, no you're not mate .......well, maybe sometimes :mfr_lol:
My wife has always pointed out (particularly to our children) the pain of scraging your knee when you fell over in the play ground at school (I'm sure 1 or 2 of you may remember - maybe not ) at a mere 3 or 4 mph then times that by 10 or 20!
We went out for a ride on Saturday, coming back a R6 with a personalised plate (that's how I knew it was a R6!) overtook us - he was just wearing a pair of shorts and trainers.
I think that Nightrider is right, just have a look at the classifieds, bikes years old with 4 figure mileages.
I agree with you all 100%, but if you ever tried to explain to these "biker morons" what the results of a fall are they would just shrug it off as it ain't going to happen to them because "I'm the best biker here".
Way back I was a bike instructor, and we had folks turn up for training in flip-flops....no gloves...in fact no protection at all.
The first thing I would do was to get them to drag the palm of their hands over the tarmac surface and would ask them "what do you feel".
They would look at me and you could see what they were thinking..."this guy's a twat"...so I would help them out with the answer....it's like cheese grater. Then I would show them a write-up by a London base surgeon from a bike mag, were this doctor asked bikers to stop wearing Bri-nylon shorts while riding in the heat wave we were having, as he was fed up with skinning these morons.
What was happening was as they went down the road on their arse, the nylon was melting, mixing with the grated skin then would set as it cooled down...hence the action he would then have to peel the damaged part and then do skin grafts.
And the pain associated with that procedure and resulting recovery must be excruciating, and then there is the resulting scar tissue, all because these folk want to look 'cool'
At the moment we're on hols in Portimao Portugal for 2 weeks, we've been down to one of the beaches this morning, and you will not believe the number of bikes & scooters with the riders in shorts, vest & flip flops.. :censored: I rest my case your honour... :hammer:
Plenty of those T-shirt and shorts, R6/GSX/Ninja types around Essex unfortunately.
Skin to bone in about 1/2 a second?
I'd imagine it would look a lot like lamb shank done in a slow cooker.... you'd just be staring as the flesh slides off the bone (with added road grit instead of seasoning).
Hope they don't experience it.
We're up in Scotland at the moment and on the way up the M6 we were overtaken by an invincible sports bike rider wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I'd like to say it was totally unbelievable but we all know its not.
I understand in France it is illegal to ride a bike without gloves. Perhaps we should be moving in that direction but it would interfere with people's free choice.....
I was riding in the Pyrannese heading for Bilbao many years ago wearing all the textiles sweating like a pig when 2 coppers overtook me on BMW's wearing short sleeve shirts. Look at the stupeed roast beef!!!!
the world is a different place these days. People dont accept advice because they know it all from YouTube and the interwebs.
Why listen to folks that have slid down the road on their ass, clearly they cant ride proper.
Much of the youth of today believe there is a little square or triangle button which is the reset key.
People I used to see almost on a daily basis going for gaps in cars that simply weren't there, they seem to hunker down and hope for the best.
Hey ho

Recently back from a very warm Florida ... flip flops shorts and vest .... no gloves and no helmets !
