Title: Starter Motor not Working...
Post by: Longtom on March 28, 2018, 09:35:02 AM
Hi All, My bike has been overwintered in a shed under a cover. New battery fitted, press starter and-nothing. No 'click' or whirring noise, it's just dead. I suspect the starter relay as everything was fine when put away-perhaps corroded terminals or some such, anyway it seems a good place to start. Checked fuses, and all OK, but can't seem to track down the relay, I have a copy of a workshop manual showing it to be in the battery compartment but I can't see it. Any suggestions, help or ideas as to where to look next would be most welcome before I start taking off all the panels to track it down, and I know it will be behind the last one! It's a 2011 bike, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Might be the actual switch you press, whip the thing off which is easy and clean contact inside.

If not this then more investigation required.

Try the side stand switch and also the clutch lever connectors

Thanks for your replies, off to the shed now armed with many armfuls of tools and electrical switch cleaner...
