Wwell just got back from my first ride on the gtr nice and smooth when moving carrys its wieght better than i thought it would handing was good fairly impressed, bad points low down power i thought was poor between 2 and 5 thousand rpm no were near as good as my zx12r ,so hope it gets better with more miles
This is how I felt too first few times out. You think it's a big ole whopper engine... should be crazy. Well, don't benchmark it to a ZX12... that's a big sport bike..
The GTR is a touring machine. Get it over 7000rpm and you'll get going quick enough. It'll pick up its skirt n fly. Trudy me. Just don't benchmark it against bikes not in the same category.
I had a ZX12r. Great. Hyper fast. But 115 mpg!! And cantvride it without being achy.
GTR will do 165. Difference is itll donit 2 up with full luggage.... for ages ! And you'll get off all spring chicken like!!
Give it time. Fit Michelin PR4 GTs and get into Europe. It'll be singing then.
Post up again after you've nailed it in2nd to the red line and watched the clocks!!
12 is 18 yearthanks guys for your help old sports bike .the 14 from what i read was tuned for torque so really did think it would of had more low down power not less,i,ve read people say to remove the files has anyone done this does it help ,
I'd ride it as it's designed for a while. Honestly get it over 7k rpm and you'll have fun.
It's tuned for fast touring. Upto 6000 it's docile. It's supposed to be. You just need to work the revs bud
Remember 6th isn't 6th. It's an overdrive gear so don't expect ANY sparks to fly.
What you have is a Ballistic Sofa. Same as me on my first ride ... ask of anything wrong, everyone says no... just gotta shift your head around what your on.
Ballistic Sofa !!

Easy fix for the power situation,Shouldabeen "Mountain Runner" flash,You will have all the low down, mid range and top end power your heart desires, with improved fuel economy.
It will probably smoke the ZX12? or very similar performance IMHO.
With the Mountain Runner flash increased power starts from idle up,strong right through the rev range,no revving it to 7000 rpm to make it "light up".

hehehehe !!! its what I called it the moment I hit 165, 2up and fully loaded !
Gents not looking for top end power i have the 12 for that ,but imho you should not have to rev a touring bike to 7ooo rpm to get a good torque figure, i really thought it would pull like a train from low down and thats why its nowhere near a zzr 1400 pick power,is there anywere in the uk that does these,s remaps ,i do like the bike the way it rides but not the lack off low down power
Remove 1st stage butterflies ...then she goes instant air /fuel ...... no delay

. Take it to bsd performance at Peterborough ,,or hilltop motorcycles , Hinckley , you won't go wrong using one of these
Before getting it re-mapped, try a throttle calibration reset. Could be an easy fix.

And how is that done
Go for a remap.Best thing ive done to mine. You will have smooth power delivery from the off and anywhere in the rev range.Mpg remains the same with mine .Ive heard of no negatives with a remap.
Sent an email to hiltop mc they repied saying that its not a problem, asked for a bit more info so just waiting for a reply
I had the speed limiter removed at no extra cost.Just because it was an option,Done by this man in the USA https://sites.google.com/site/shoodabenengineering/concours1400

I had read through his page looks good ,how did you do it post your ecu over
yes posted it.worked out about the same price as you would pay here.only small problem was that the ecu is held in with tamper proof bolts which i had to drill out.
Is there not a danger that these modifications could invalidate the insurance?

And how is that done
As per the video. Ignition on. Full throttle twice. Ignition off.
The GTR is a "fly by wire" machine. The throttle cable goes to a Thottle Position Sensor. *That* can sometimes be out of whack. Hence this "reset" trick.

Been in touch with hilltop mc they have repied and sent a dyno graph showing a increase in torque fron 78 ilbs to 91 ilbs bhp from 120 to 140 at the wheel ,so going to fit a can then remap just need to run it in first

Just bear in mind that it will invalidate your warranty on at least the engine side of things.
120 rear wheel bhp is very low IMO for a standard bike. I had mine done with 1500 miles on the clock and recorded 147.5.. Rear wheel

think they must have sent you a wrong graph , standard bike has about 155 Bhp and 100lbs of thrust ,, mine has 156 and 106 set up on a dyno ,the more specs you look at the more different versions you see ,but set up right on a rolling road you will feel a difference and the power will be similar to other tuned ones , it does give the 5-6 gears a lot more go because of the better torque ,the gtr does not always. Feel as fast because it's so smooth but look down at the speedo and it tells a different story ,, I had the zzr11 and 12 the gtr is as quick but so smooth no vibes ,,the Bentley of bikes , :biker3:
My GTR was done at hilltop and it was a big improvement in the standard settings ride wise.
After three runs I had 151bhp at rear wheel and 100 lbs ft of torque, up quite substantially from the standard and rode so much smoother afterwards.
Geoff knows what he is doing.
To be honest i thought it was abit low but thats what he sent ,nice to see other have been there and are happy ,just need to get time to run it in first ,cheers gents
