Title: Rebuilding rear brake calliper
Post by: Joe on March 15, 2018, 09:02:39 AM
I'm about to replace the seals on my rear brake calliper, it's the first time I've one this on a bike with ABS, can I just drain the fluid and bleed as usual to refill?

Thanks

I changed all of my brake lines with no problems bleeding as normal.I think there is a way to bleed the abs unit but i never needed to.Best way is to clamp the flexi hose near to the caliper to stop the fluid draining out keeping the reservoir full at all times. Then bleed through as normal.Hope this helps.

Thanks wildebeest.

Looking at the service manual it seems the groove for the fluid seal suggests the seal will be cut at an angle. The replacement seals I have seem cut square, is this going to cause a problem do you think?

Ive had my rear caliper stripped and the seals ime sure are angled.you do have to look closely but i believe they are angled .These being original seals though. After market i cant help you with.Genuine seals arnt to expensive. There are 2 A dust seal and a fluid seal for each piston.See diagram http://www.kawasakioriginalparts.com/road-bikes.html?blockref=99912-1648.F-13&machineid=792&year=2010&model=ZG1400CAF&country=GB
