Title: Not had the bike long
Post by: craigv78 on January 08, 2018, 08:18:58 AM
So my bike is an 08, I've had it since October, and I have initial daily greeting message "Front tire battery sensor low" - I do what most people do and ignore it for a couple of miles and all is well.

Like I said I expect and ignore this message every trip, I only noticed the other day - why does it say "Tire" its a UK bike, not a grey import?

I guess that's just going to bug me, the same way my toddlers toys bug me when they pronounce the letter Z as Zee rather than Zed.

On another note, has anyone had any luck getting a locksmith to cut a spare key for the luggage/tank rather than having to faff around removing the fob key each time?  - I've tried a few locksmiths and none of them seem to have a suitable blank to use.

Keys. My local locksmith carried the blanks in store. Some on here always question why have a copied key when the stove knob key does the job. In my case if I put the stove knob in the locked position and then want to open the panniers I have to turn off the alarm, let the KiPASS do it's thing then remove the stove knob key. Much quicker if you have a spare.

As for Tire/Tyre I don't know, mine is a UK bike with dash readout set to UK units and it reads Tire

I tried to get rid of the Tire indication and couldn't, it's that or nothing.

If you have the original sensors fitted you can change the battery easy enough, if you have the later version then I have yet to see anybody try, but on the basis somehow a battery got fitted then perhaps access is possible.

I purchased a Kawasaki blank key on eBay and got my mate in college to cut it for me, loads easier than faffing around with the original, leave the stove knob where it is.

I got blank keys and had them cut at Timpsons lock/keys.

The Tire message is just that a bastardisation of our fine English grammar  :mfr_lol:

You can clear the low battery warning and render the display as reading all other things as normal. When the battery warning comes up, hold down the two rubber dash buttons down and the signal clears. However it resets itself every time you turn the ignition on so will need to do this each time.

I've seen this said before, but I have a 2010 model and the dealer replaces the battery for me when the dreaded low battery message comes up.

https://keysinthepost.com/

is the place to get your key cut, just send them a good quality picture (& optionally the number from the key)  and it will be back in a couple of days
